I just uploaded a new video on my account! This week its 1995 "THE SPIRIT OF POCAHONTAS from 1995. I remember this stage show very well, it was one of my absolute favorite shows that was ever performed live on stage. Most of you may not know but Eden Espinoza whos currently playing Elphaba ,in the LA touring production of "WICKED" got her start in this show!. Hope you like it and i hope you'll share your stories about this show!.

I did not know that. I loved that show as well and have the entire show on Video. It was well done. Did she play Pocahontas? I don't know the names of the people in the show at all.

Very good info! I did not know she got her start on the same stage that they did that wild Dick Tracy show!

Thank you so much for bringing Pocahontas back into our minds. It seems she has been too long forgotten by DLR and needs more well deserved attention nowaday. I believe her to be the best princess role model for all little or grown-up girls.

Re: Remembering "The Spirit of Pocahontas"

First, IIRC, there was a thread buried here about famous people (like Wayne Brady) who got their start at Disney theme parks.

Second, can we merge this thread in Warner Weiss' Yesterland boards please?

                Thanks for sharing!

Also, Tomasina, the lead singer for SandBox Band, who are regulars at the TT, was featured in Pocahontas.

Re: Remembering "The Spirit of Pocahontas"

I think 1995 was the year my family went to Pocahontas on ice. Not that this has anything to do with that.

Thanks for sharing. I remember seeing previews for it, but I never saw it.

Re: Remembering "The Spirit of Pocahontas"

I love Eden. I saw one of her very first performances in Wicked back in 2004 when she was a standby for Idina Menzel in the original broadway cast. I remember at first I was so upset, because I sat 3rd row center and saw the entire original cast (including Kristin Chenoweth) except for Idina. but as soon as eden sang "the wizard and I" I was completely blown away. when i met her i told her that she had changed my life. i then saw her do elphaba 2 more times in san fran...she even remembered me when i went to see her at the stage door. she's so amazing and so nice, and I love that she started out at Disney. I totally saw her in the Pocahontas show. She's amazing! I know she was also in "steps in time" at the Hyperion and also was in Groove 66, and played various atmosphere characters...she's fabulous!

Eden is so amazing. I remember seeing this show when I was younger, and remember that I really enjoyed it. After looking at the whole show on you tube, its amazing what they did with it. What happend? Stage shows are just not what they once where at Disneyland, and now theres nothing at the Fantasyland theatre but a Princess little show. I'm sad to see how so much talent can be wasted.

Re: Remembering "The Spirit of Pocahontas"

Spirit of Pocahontas show was a great one. Pocahontas, Beauty and the Beast, and Snow White really stick out in my mind as to how a theme park can provide such a great show. Disneyland's entertainment department always used to deliver. I always found it neat, too, how they could successfully bring Pocahontas, Hercules, and Quasimodo on stage together (their theme/image songs fit well together).

Hopefully, those old stage shows will serve as a reminder to those young actors wanting to acheive their dreams that it can happen.

(Being a Pocahontas related thread, check out the Youtube video in my signature down below)

Thank's for the video. It reminds me of when we got a new show ever 2-3 years. I hope they bring these type of shows back to the park.
