  • Autumn in the Parks and a Few Photos

Now that Project Eat More Food Than I Should has been completed, the Christmas season moves into overdrive. It seemed like a good time to look back at my past few trips to Disneyland and DCA. It's been awhile since I last posted a picture thread, so here is just a sampling of photos from September, October and November.

    SEPTEMBER
During the insanely HOT Labor Day weekend, I came across Pluto entertaining the guests in Town Square. Kudos to this dancing CM, who must have been sweltering.

Mary Poppins, Bert and even more musicians were singing and dancing in front of the Castle.

Seeking some kind of air-conditioning, I ventured into the Golden Horseshoe for some fun with Billy Hill and the Hillbillies.

Stepping back outside, a quick raft ride later, I was on the Island. The Bootstrappers were playing, which is often a good sign that the Pirate stunt show might start soon.

I'm sure they're engaged in typical pirate conversation:
    "Hi, how are the kids?"
"Just great! Jenny scored two goals in yesterday's soccer game."
"That's splendid! Can I bring over some pecan pie to help celebrate?"

Feeling giddy over the swordplay, I decided to see if any Jedis were around.

Getting your first lightsaber is an important moment in any young padawan's life.

    I sense the dark side...

A not-so-quick trip around the submarine lagoon was also on the agenda. Maybe the heat kept people out of the line as there was just a 60 minute wait in the middle of the afternoon.

A hidden Nemo alongside the queue area.

I need to take a quick break. But more September pics are coming, including the Parade of Dreams and Aladdin.

      SEPTEMBER cont.

      Parade of Dreams

I have a soft spot for Flounder. He was (and still is) the cool fish before Nemo came along.

Next up was a boat trip on the Jungle Cruise.

Some details on the ride vehicle:

Since I was in Adventureland, it seemed like a good idea to explore the Temple of the Forbidden Eye with the Indiana Jones Adventure.

When I escaped from the temple with some help from Dr. Jones, I noticed that they were testing fog effects on the Rivers of America.

These ducks seem unperturbed by the special effects.

Crossing over into DCA, I wanted to check out Aladdin.

It's just how it ends on the DVD! I love this show.

Note: you can click any of the photos above to access my Flickr set with even more September pictures. Tomorrow will bring photos from October and November, including Halloweentime, High School Musical 2 and Block Party Bash.

Armadillo - Thanks for those great shots! I have no idea how you go that shot of Mr. Ray as I've tried a couple of times now in that tunnel and all I get is blurs. (The sub seems like it's moving so fast at that point.) And you've got some wonderful facial expressions from the shows and parades. The fog on the ROA is also amazing. Excellent work!

I agree! You gotta love Carpet. She's awesome. Too bad she lies down on the job so much.

(like you've never heard that one before, LOL!)

Thank You, LDF! Coming from you, that means a lot. Your photo updates are really wonderful to see on these boards.

I actually took some better tunnel shots from the Submarine Voyage earlier in the summer. And even I've had a difficult time trying to improve on them. Here are a few from my first Sub trip in July.

This underwater volcano shot is one of my favorites. But I've never been able to get it again. I must have gotten really, really lucky. I won't complain though.

                  Okay, October pictures coming up!

                    SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER
October means Halloweentime at Disneyland. Okay, the promotion actually started in September, so here are a few early shots from the Main Street Pumpkin Festival taken on Sept. 23.

I'm going to cut this post in two in hopes of getting this thread onto Page 2, so we don't load too many pictures onto one page.

                    To be continued...

                      OCTOBER
I managed just one trip to the parks during October due to an extremely busy work schedule. But it was one of the best trips ever. I loved all the Halloween decorations and festivities.

Mickey and the Disneyland Band were out in Halloween-themed costumes too!

Big Thunder Ranch with Woody's Halloween Round-Up is next, then Wildcat spirit invades this thread.

Thanks Oswald the Rabbitt! Like I posted earlier, I must have gotten really, really lucky to have these come out. It was on my first Sub ride in the summer and I never have been able to get any like them again. I'm not sure what I did right back then. LOL!

Ok, this is post #13, hopefully we can turn over to page 2 now.

                            OCTOBER continued
Big Thunder Ranch gets an extreme makeover, Halloween-style. The Ranch was a terrific place to hang out for awhile and take in the festivities or just admire the scenery and decorations.

All the Ranch CMs are extremely friendly and do everything they can to make sure guests are having a good time. This CM in the petting area poses with a goat named Belle.

A talented CM is carving a Sally design onto this pumpkin.

I liked the Stitch and Lilo pumpkins a lot. Although my favorite might have to be the Little Green Alien.

Leaving the Ranch, I spotted a variety of aquatic vehicles on the Rivers of America.

Our look back at October continues in the next post with a trip across the plaza to California Adventure.

                              OCTOBER continued

I made my way out of Disneyland and across the plaza to DCA. My inner-Wildcat needed a High School Musical fix.

These guys crack me up! They take their shaking quite seriously.

"I Don't Dance" - my favorite number in the show.

"We're all in this together. And it shows, when we stand, hand in hand. Make our dreams come true."

I love the songs, the super-fun choreography, and the performances of the talented CMs. Watching all the kids in the audience (and sometimes, their parents) sing and dance along always leaves me with a smile on my face.

Back in a bit with just a few more October pictures. Watch as we go parade hopping with Parade of Dreams and Block Party Bash.
