  • Armchair Imagineering: Fantasmic!

I  Fantasmic! as much as the next guest, maybe more. It's one of my favorite things to do at Disneyland, and I'm sorely disappointed that I'm too tall to play Mickey. However, it's getting a bit long in the tooth, and parts of it don't work quite as well as they used to. Also, the technology that they're capable of has far surpassed what's used in the show.

So, what would you do to redesign Fantasmic!?

(I'd like to see what others have to say first, then I'll weigh in with my own opinions.)

    Hmm....

The show is so tight, I'm not sure I'd want to mess with it, honestly. Perhaps add something to the stage part other than spinny glow stuff while waiting for the Twain to arrive for the finale?

Also, I might tighten up some of the villains stuff, that animated segment goes on for far too long. I know folks'll hate me for this, but I'd cut the Chernabog scene.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

It's mostly little stuff I'd want to change. Tighten up the villains segment (especially Ursula, I always thought that was edited together so strangely), rig up Columbia so Peter can actually fly, and put the Pinocchio segment out of its misery. The "Got No Strings" bit looks so cheesy and fake compared to the sophistication of the rest of the show.
