  • DL gets cheesy again.

I stopped by the park on Saturday just to take a look around. Ended up wandering into TL to see how things were going.

When I looked up towards the Innoventions building I couldn't believe my eyes. Strung up accross the top of the building were two banners. One was promoting Honda's new robot (can't remember the name) and the other banner simply read "Grand Opening"

I'm sure you guys know what I'm talking about.

Question. What is happening to Disneyland? No, I'm not talking corporate/commercial promotions (that has been one of the backbones of the parks succes for decades). If handled correctly/classy, corporate sponsorship is fine. I'm talking about those cheesy banners themselves. Are you kidding me?!

Geez, it's starting to look like a swap meet back there! Where is the trademark Disney style, the artful Disney design and artful marketing? Add that to the plethroa of churro carts (not that I don't love the occasional churro:-) and I swear you'd think you were at (gasp!) Magic Mountain. Throw in a few more gangbangers and you're done!

Why so fired up? It's just a couple of banners right? This is how it always starts.

Do me a favor. FInd an old picture of TL and compare it to what they have now.

    Agreed whole-heartedly.

Is this in addition to the retro-attraction posters? Or were (some of) those replaced by the tacky advertisements?

They are in addition too the Class of... banners hanging on the building.
These smaller banners mentioned look like the kind you'd expect to see at your local blvd. of cars dealerships.

And what about those strollers? Those horribly terrifying strollers?

I'm addicted to Disneyland. Disneyland hobbies are expensive.
If I become a bum people are going to say "Don't give him money, he's just gonna use it on Disneyland."

With all this talk of "off the shelf" and "on the back-burner" it seems the only thing that DCA is really missing is the kitchen sink!

I agree, most people don't even know about ASIMO. It'll be gone soon, no worries.

I don't mind it, being as its a temporary thing.

There's going to be growing pains. I believe Matt will have a handle on DL soon!

Well it is sponsored by Honda, maybe it IS from a car dealership.

Thus the comparison. Maybe they should market ASIMO as a carpool buddy
