  • Blue Bayou Suggestions

Woot! I made my birthday luncheon reservations for Blue Bayou today. This is the first birthday I've looked forwards to in a Long long time! 3 of us on October 3 @ 3 pm. :cgrin:  :cgrin:

NOW questions for you folks who go there all the time.

If you were going to have lunch and Not have a Monte Cristo Sandwich, what would you order?

More importantly, what's the best dessert?

And I think this sounds dumb but I still want to know - is there any one waterside table that is better than the others? (Maybe I should ask if there are any I should beware of!)

Oh man I really can't wait!

I got a taste of my friend's stuffed mushrooms last time, and I'd order those next time I go if I went at dinner.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

I love the prime rib for lunch! It's cheaper than its dinner compatriat, of course. It has a nice little popover with some vegetables and also a side of scalloped potatoes.

I recommend both the fried cheesecake and the creme brulee.

The house salad is absolutely delish sooo good!
I get the crab cakes in lobster sauce everytime, they are spectacular.
And another vote for creme brulee'

Their jumbalaya is what I always get for lunch there. Unless I'm not that hungry, the the seafood salad is perfect.

Being a hostess at BB, I am the expert~!

My favorite item on the lunch menu is the Jambalaya Classique, but ask you waiter how spicy it is that day. If you don't tolerate spice/heat and Eric is the kitchen lead, you might want to steer clear, because he loves to make it extra-spicy! I love it sooo much.

If you like spinach, then you will LOVE the Quarter Chicken Florentine. My best friend's mother had it, and said it was one of the best spinach dishes she's ever had. I tried some of it from my sample platter, and I enjoyed it, but since I've always hated spinach, I could only take a few bites before I'd had enough. But the fact that I took four bites when I hate spinach really vouches for it!

My favorite dessert (and the largest one) is the baked apple. But I've always had a big ol soft spot for apple desserts. The fried cheesecake is really great if you have a very young sense of taste (i.e. if you're like me and an adult but your favorite food is still macaroni and cheese). I haven't tried any of the other desserts, but next up on my list to try is the chocolate volcano. Anything which oozes chocolate = good in my book!

I personally think that the best waterside table is table number 83. It's all the way to the left side of the restaurant and near a server station, but it's the quietest and the most private. 81 is near here, and is also quiet. Otherwise, for a party of 2, I really love table 10, which is to the far right side of the restaurant in a corner, under a tree and a lamp. It's very romantic and also somewhat private. 111 is also nice for a party of two. I like the smaller tables because they are cozier. And this is coming from me, who is not a big fan of sitting on the water because I hate it when guests yell from the boats at people eating! If you sit on the left side of the restaurant, they don't tend to get very gutsy until after you've past. But I wouldn't personally want to sit on the water to the far right. I haven't ever sat there, but I think I would prefer not to.

I like the table closest to the shack where the banjo is playing. Whatever floats your boat on the food question. It's all good.

Good advice! Nothing like romance on the water and now we know what to request when we show up extra early.

It all sounds good. I haven't been since I was trying to impress a date/wife, which must have been at least 13 years ago.
With enough people in the party, you can go Chinese-restaurant-style and order food for everyone to sample. If it's just two, and it's your birthday, just order the most expensive item. That's what I do whenever someone else is paying.

Is there enough to satisfy vegetarians? We don't eat fish either, but we do eat dairy. It always smells soooooo good when floating by on POTC, but sometimes it is hard to justify higher costs if there isn't a good veggie option.
