  • [Chat] What are your impressions of the Paradise Pier Hotel?

So I don't hear a lot about the third hotel in the trifecta, the Grand Californian and Disneyland Hotel get most of the attention.

Can anyone who's stayed here provide some feedback?

Does anyone have a map of the hotel layout?

And how does the hotel rate, when compared to Disney's other two on site hotels?

    Thanks!

Last time I stayed there was back in 2006. But it was a great experience then. The pool had a kinda sillouhette thing at the bottom of it that was shaped like a heart with mickey and minnie, it was in February so Valentine themed, when I stayed.

Ha I actually found a picture from my Photobucket

But it is the cheapest of the three and rightly so. But not to say its a bad hotel. Just the cheapest of the three. The rooms were clean. My kid who was about 3 at the time, loved the little "Cartoon" room that looked like a beach setting that kids could sit and watch classic mickey cartoons in. It was a great stay!

Does it look and feel like a Disney hotel? I know it used to be an independent hotel. I have to say, due to it's location I've never ventured over there even though I often choose to dine at the restaurants at the other two hotels.

I would think so. From what I remember, they had the mickey toiletries and such. I'm sure that decor has changed in the past 5 years though.

They have the cool arcade to. I know the GCH has one but this one is just as good.

I agree. It's a very plain hotel, the other two are much more exciting. It's just simple towers, as the DLH is but everything not in one of the DLH's towers is done to a max. Not so at the PPH.

At the PPH I like 3 things. The rooms are good. The view from the rooms are great. The outdoor patio to watch the fireworks from, that is the north end of the pool deck.

If not for that they could tear it down and I would be happy about it.

Speaking of room views...I also found photos from the view from my room when I stayed back in 2006.

            6am view

            noon view

            and 6pm view

Obviously this was before the Orange was taken out

We've stayed many times at each if the three DLR hotels and PPH is our favorite with the GCH being a very close second. I know we're in the minority but the DLH is our least favorite and the least "Disney" of the three. For us "Disney" in a hotel means excellent comfort, decor and customer service.

I think the PPH is pretty plain and basic. I think the Hilton is a lot better and at a lot cheaper price. When I was there last it was still themed to the original Paridise Pier. The pool is very small and plain. I do like the early entry you can get from staying there, the patio at the pool to watch the fireworks with the music piped in, and the view from the rooms with views. I think they give a great view of WOC. I think if I were to ever stay there again, I would only stay there if I had a room with a view. Otherwise its not worth the price.

We have stayed at the PPH a couple times, most recently in August 2012. We love it because it is still Disney without the big price of the other two hotels. There are nice little Disney touches to the room with a beach theme. My kids love the beach ball pillow that is on the bed. We have always gotten a room with a great view of World of Color and DCA. It is so awesome to watch it from there at night. There are patterns you just can not see when you are on the bay. Now yes, it is a little far of a walk, but if you cut through the Grand it is not that bad.

We have stayed in the DLH a couple times but find the price difference just not worth it. Don't get me wrong, the DLH is great in all the the details, but really, how much time are you spending in the hotel anyway. We do the PPH because you can still get all the perks without the price. Early entry (esp. with Carsland) and being able to ship your packages back to the room are worth every penny to me.

We have never used the pool, but we have eaten at both the restaurants and love it. We actually prefer the character meal there because it is almost always quieter than the others so you get more attention. Also it is a great place to meet Stitch and Daisy Duck, and it is the only meal that Mickey is at.

I strongly recommend the PPH. If you have the money to blow, fine go with one of the others, but I could easily spend that $400-800 difference on something else far more fun.
