  • Best Place to Eat near Hollywood and Highland

Whats the best place to eat at or around Hollywood and Highland?
Preferably something that won't break my bank.
There are a lot of places in the Hollywood and Highland complex.

Hollywood & Highland Center - Eateries
Hoping to raise enough money to go to DL from Pennsylvania with my wife for our 5 year anniversary. (We went there on our honeymoon!)

If you would like to contribute to the cause for a relatively poor private school teacher. Please private message me. I'd be very thankful.

My only recommendation is that you avoid Uwink. Cool place, rotten service. Good luck!

Sure, it's not RIGHT THERE, but how about the Disney Fountain??? (you did mention "at or around")

Seems like a slam-dunk to me!

Or if you are stuck on the H & H Center, Johnny Rocket's is always a nice treat.

Yes, UWink was probably the worst service ever. It's a cool concept and food was pretty good, but the service was horrid.

I've eaten at Trastevere and it was wonderful. Great service and great food. I've also eaten at The Grill, which was also very good. As OldSchoolMickey mentioned, there's also the Disney Soda Fountain which is literally right across the street. They have great ice cream but they're food is so-so. Make sure and visit though, the store is adorable. If you don't mind walking just a little bit Mel's Diner is across the street from H & H Center. It's a fun place and always tasty.

The Disney soda fountain of course!

          I not the Johnny Rockets.
          Good morning, son
          In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
          It was pain
          Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

The French Crepe Company in H&H is quite good (and also had great waffles), and I'm dittoing the recommendation for Mel's Diner, just diagonal and a couple doors down on Highland (behind Ripley's and the Hollywood Museum) from the H&H complex. And Disney Fountain for ice cream, natch.

The Grill and Koji's Shabu Shabu receive high marks from me as well as Johnny Rocket's. Trastevere was pretty good when I went and it was good service but I think it was because we were the only ones in the restaurant. The Soda Fountain deserves a visit too, even if it is only for desert.

There is the Disney Fountain across the street. As well, there is a California Pizza Kitchen on the north side. Johnny Rockets is alright, but it will never compare to Ruby's Diner.

There is a Burger King up on Highland as you drive toward the Hollywood Bowl - if all else fails, you could have a Whopper

Thanks for the reviews.. I'm thinking about trying out Mel's diner. Looks like a cute place with some history and fairly easy parking.
What are the prices like there and what would you recommend to get?

I am a fan of the Pig 'N Whistle, which is on Hollywood Boulevard just east of Highland.

                    Classic location and great food...

Sure, I enjoy Ruby's as well.

When did Ruby's open a new location near Hollywood and Highland?

That is, of course, what this thread is about...

I second the recommendation of the Pig n Whistle. Prices weren't bad, food was good, atmosphere was very cute. I liked it, and I'll go back again next time I'm in the area.

Yes, you are right, next to the Egyptian.

They are all about the same price, I placed the web link in the earlier post to the Pig 'N Whistle which has a menu with prices.

A couple of other places to check out, the Snow White Cafe (which is basically a Bar), just for the drawings, and the Stella Adler Acting school, both basically across the street from the Pig 'N Whistle.

If you have a chance, see if they are offering any showing at the Actign School, they do offer tickets to shows at a great price, sometimes even free.
