  • Rainbow Caverns color footage?

The one attraction I really miss from the way-back-when days is the Mine Train through Nature's Wonderland. While I've found footage online (and on the Extinct Attractions DVD) of the outdoor part of the ride, I've never seen any color footage of the interior of the Rainbow Caverns.

Granted film wasn't probably fast enough to capture much of anything in the caverns, and video wasn't widely used yet when it was shut down, but I was wondering if anybody knew of any color footage out there.

    Thanks!
    Kurt

I believe Extint attractions DVD's are only to find Natures Wonderland and to bring up the topic of rare ride videos, Adventure thru inner space is impossible to find with Extinct Attractions.

Me too -- would LOVE to see color footage of inside the caverns. I've heard all these different stories of how neat it was to see all these colors splashing down but never mixing together. It must have been amazing. It would have been nice if they could have saved all that for the cavern portion of Big Thunder Mountain RailRoad...

I have no answer for this, but it is also something I would LOVE to see! I've always wondered what it looked like in color...

Although it was unique for it's day - It wasn't as awesome as you would think. The current effects in BTM with the water spashes and such are much better.

I was messing around with Google Earth the other day and was suprised that there's quite a bit of unused space beside Thunder Mountain. It would be interesting if they brought back the mine train (in a slightly smaller format since Thunder occupies part of the space) and a reconstructed Cascade Peak.
              Or,
how about a wild-mouse-style mine buggy ride? Themed of course and not like DCA's.

While not interior, there's some Mine Train footage towards the end of this YouTube file. There's some great Frontierland footage on here, too. Great stuff!

Have any of you seen "40 pounds of trouble"? It's an old Tony Curtis movie from the early '60s. At the climax of the movie Tony's character ends up being chased through Disneyland by his ex-wife's attorney (if memory serves me right). Anyway there's about 13 mins of footage in the park and some of it is him running though "Nature's Wonderland" in glorious technicolor.

You can find the movie on Amazon. It's really a classic.

Also, you can find a ride through on DVD here - http://01508f4.netsolstores.com/inde...PROD&ProdID=15

Not sure if it's all in color, but it looks like it.
