More than 2,800 dead pigs found in Chinese river - Behind The Wall

According to Xinmin newspaper, 2,813 pigs were fished out of the Huangpu River, which provides drinking water for Shanghai's 23 million people. When contacted for up-to-date information on the number of pigs retrieved from the river, officials referred NBC News to the local news report.

Some of the pigs were infected with porcine circovirus (PCV) virus, according to an official statement by the Shanghai Agriculture Committee. The statement posted on China's Twitter-like social media service Weibo said that the disease would not infect humans.
    Some expressed outrage via Weibo.

"Have we been drinking dead-pig-polluted water? We are already panicked by the polluted air now we have to worry about poisoned water too," one user wrote.

China is a 3rd world country. Don't expect much from it.

As far as SDL goes, the biggest concern is it will finacially fail since China is trying to hold of a bubble which effects the middle class that SDL is suppose to attract.

I feel bad for the pigs.

Dead Ducks Found Floating In Chinese River As Dead Pig Count Continues To Rise

A thousand dead ducks were found floating in the Nanhe river, which runs through the southern Chinese province of Sichuan, on Tuesday. Liang Weidong, a local official in Sichuan, told the state-run Xinhua News Agency that the dead birds were found inside roughly 50 woven plastic bags. Officials removed the birds from the bags and properly sanitized and disposed of the carcasses. Thankfully, the Nanhe river isn't a drinking water source for the area, which officials believe will prevent any threat to local citizens.

Each year different strains of the influenza virus originate from that part of the world. Could be some type of swine flu. Yuck

I am not suprised that there were pigs in the river, but more by the fact that the Huangpu is still the major source of drinking water...and sewage wash away Shanghai.

Did'ja see that 60 Minutes report a few weeks ago about China's bubble? Yikes. And here we were, afraid that someday we'd be owned by China at the amount of debt we owe them. Something tells me that giant tower of Jenga is just one pulled block away from something terrible.

Something is going to go down with NK and China being their only backer. No bueno.

Chinese health workers collect bags of dead chickens at a wholesale agricultural market in Shanghai. Authorities in the city began the mass slaughter of poultry at the market after the H7N9 bird flu virus was detected there, state media said.
