  • [Question] Kingdom hearts in Tokyo Disney?

I am going to be going to Tokyo Disneyland and Disneyland while on a school trip, and I am wondering if they still have anything Kingdom hearts related in the parks there?
I just would like to know if I should buy some merchandise before we go ( We go to disney at the end of our trip ) , or if I can just buy it there.
    Or am I too late?
I went to Disneyland in Anaheim last month, and was disappointed that they didn't have ANYTHING.
but I am hoping that In the land of mega RPG fandom they might still have some things.

    Thank you

I don't remember seeing anything for Kingdom Hearts at Tokyo Disney last year, but this would be your best bet.

Square Enix, which is the company that made the Kingdom Hearts serie actually has a company store in Tokyo. This is the english website: SQUARE ENIX CHARACTER GOODS SHOP SHOW CASE . They sell all kind of merchandise from their games. Look into it and see if you can go there during your trip!

      oooh, Thank you
Hopefully the teachers will let us divert there.
Kinda disappointed that none of the parks seem to have anything though.
I suppose it isn't well known enough.

It probably has to do with licensing. Disney licensed their characters and stories to Square Enix and also OLC, so I think it's just really muddled on who can sell what. There were probably some clauses when they made the contracts. I remember seeing KH stuff a long time ago in TDL in photos, but I'm not sure, maybe it was only a temporary thing.

Sorry, I went not a week ago and there wasn't any KH merchandise for sale at all. Not at DisneySea, anyway.

I don't recall which thread I read it in, but someone had pictured a Kingdom Hearts display set up somewhere in Ikspiari- but it was probably just for an advertisement in one of the shops- but no mention of any merchandise.

There may have been a few items in the Japan pavillion in Epcot- but I don't recall seeing very much there.

Re: Kingdom hearts in Tokyo Disney?

The Kingdom Hearts display in Ikspiari was for a game released last year "Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded". There wasn't really merchandise tied in with that, other than the game itself.

I suppose I will have to try and find the square enix store for my kingdom heart fix.

Re: Kingdom hearts in Tokyo Disney?

I've had my thumb on this subject for a while and I can safely say that you won't see any KH stuff in any of the parks outside of the occational advertisement for the game.

The reason being, as stated earlier, is lisensing. Disney gave Square-Enix the rights to use the characters and settings in their game with strict limitations so the company doesn't compromise the image of their characters. (READS: So that the characters don't do anything out of character because Square-Enix wanted them to.) While Disney Interactive is responsible for most, if not all, of the localization process, they aren't the ones that will bring KH into the parks any time soon. That decision is up to the management/marketing team of the parks themselves.

That said, don't be surprised if you see the occational KH character pop up around Halloween when guests are allowed to dress up.
