  • [Question] English Translation Card

    Hi all,

So I've seen on the Tokyo Disney website there is a digital English translation card you can get for attractions. However it seems it only works with the tiki room?

Is this correct? I was hoping they would have translations for things like philharmagic

    Re: English Translation Card

There is also a device for The Magic Lamp Theater and The Mermaid Lagoon on DisneySea side.

Philharmagic will be all about the music and depending on how many Disney movies you watched you will recognize the songs and won't need the translation as you basically memorized the songs, at least the catchy chorus.

The only thing you really need it for is The Magic Lamp Theater, otherwise you'll get only the barest sense of the story.

The only thing it told you in the Little Mermaid show was that they changed the plot from the movie!

The Tiki room show is so bad you don't need it there, either.

Generally, I'm grateful they've made the effort for non-Japanese speakers, but they are kind of awkward to use.

Do the parks provide a (paper) translation for attractions and shows like StormRider, My Friend Duffy, Tower of Terror?
I'll be there the second week in March for the first time! Can't. Wait.

Yep they do. I'm not sure for my friend duffy, however visit guest services at each park they will give you a english translation pack, with paper flyers for many of the attractions, translating the plot etc in english.

            Re: English Translation Card

The "attraction papers," which you can only get at Guest Relations, are mostly graphic, with the most basic plot information. You don't need it for Stormrider: there is an English language translation (with Chinese below it) running on a screen during the pre-show that explains all you need to know.

You don't need it at all during the show: plane takes off, something goes terribly wrong, you get wet, and then everything is all right in the end. Sound familiar?

First time I went to TDS, they gave me the attraction paper at 20.000 leagues and I dont see this happen again today.

                Re: English Translation Card

By the second day I stopped asking for them. I felt I got more out of it watching the gestures and listening to the tone of voice than trying to follow along on a translation device or sheet of paper.

Magic Lamp, ask for the device. Other than that, it just takes your attention away from the attraction. Definitely ask for a map in English of the Fortress Exploration. Makes a great, free souvenir

                    Re: English Translation Card

For the Magic Lamp Theater only the scripted parts are translated so there will be some jokes that you will hear everyone else laughing about but have no idea what was said. I find I enjoyed watching the Magic Lamp Theater better without the translation though it was good to use it at least once to understand the story line.
