  • RUMOR!!! Monsters Inc coming to TDL

A very strong rumor is circulating around TDR in the last few days, regarding a "Monsters Inc" ride coming to TDL in time for the 25th anniversary in April 2008. The ride would be built at the existing location where "Meet The World" used to play.

Again!!! This is only a RUMOR!!! and not confirmed.

Wouldn't that require them to remove the building.. (but it is a huge piece of land and it would work esp the way the Japanese do it..)

However it doesn't fit with Tomorrowland at all... how would they get that to work???

I don't have answers to your questions as this is only a RUMOR. It may not happen at all.

I have heard this rumor as well from a friend who works at WDI. they aren't working on the project, but have heard about it.

I wonder how they can make Monsters Inc into a Tomorrowland attraction UNLESS they are adding a rumored Hollywoodland area that would include the land where the old Meet The World attraction was located. That would make more sense.

Did Buzz Replace Timekeeper? Or is that still vacant?

Well you say it doesn't fit with Tomorrowland - yes, you don't immediately put it with Tomorrowland but it fits better there than any other land in the park.

Sigh....I walked right past Meet the World when I was there and didn't have time to go I love AA shows. TDLFAN: have you ever heard of, or seen a video of Meet the WOrld? I would LOVE to see one.

Monsters Inc would be interesting...I bet the OLC would build a great ride!

Monsters Inc in Tomorrowland would horribly ruin the theme. However, TDL Tomorrowland massively needs a total facelift. Monsters will help distract people from that fact.

I thought Buzz REPLACED Meet the World? Or is Meet still vacant? If it is why did it close??

Buzz went into the Timekeeper building. Currently, the lobby of the Meet the World building is a special-ticket distribution area.

www.jtcent.com had posted a video of the entire show shortly after it closed, but that video is no longer available on that site. I am sure there has got to be some video online somewhere, but most of those are probably only found on japanese fansites, in japanese language. Sorry I am unable to help you further with it. As for "Meet the World"... you have to understand that it's theme was not all that popular with the japanese guests and some even argued the show's tone and point of view about Japan's encountering other cultures.. This as told to me by a japanese friend. Anyone who enjoys sitting thru shows like EPCOT's American Adventure, would have surely enjoyed this show, which sadly, was never brought to EPCOT's Japan Pavillion as originally planned when EPCOT opened in 1982. Both "Meet" and "AmAd" followed the same type of format, combining AAs and film.

Now...going back to speculating on this rumored "Mosnter's Inc" ride for TDL... I too agree that Tomorrowland would hardly be the place for it. We also have to keep in mind that TDL's Microadventure (HISTA) is also closing soon....and who knows... maybe the Monsters ride could go in there and be next door neighbors to Buzz' Astroblasters. Again...only speculating here...

Chris has some pictures from inside the show, and a synopsis of the storyline here:http://www.tdrfan.com/additional/mee...orld/index.htm

Timekeeper was at Tokyo and retired to become Buzz oh i thought it was only at Florida and Paris. It retired at paris too to become the same ride opening next year. Florida still has it though.

In Tokyo, TimeKeeper was titled Visionarium: From Time to Time.
