  • [Fun] DINOSAUR without McD

    Hi Micechatters,

I'm not sure if this has come up in other threads recently, but I hadn't noticed till I was at AK yesterday that all references to McDonalds have been removed from DINOSAUR. Although Dinoland still has a McD logo on it's sign, the logo, spiels, and exit posters ("have you had a crocodillian today?"), are gone on the ride itself. I say good riddance, the McDonalds product placement was way too noticeable.
In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of fate.

If true, it is kind of sad. Even though I've never particularly cared for the product placement of the McDonald's sponsorship, it still is sad that Disney has loss another huge sponsor.

I'm really glad to hear this. Hopefully this is just the start of a complete removal of McDonald's from the entire WDW property!

That's right Dusty. No more McDonald's heart-clogging burger and fries. Now they can eat Disney heart-clogging burger and fries!

LOL - But the Disney burgers taste so bad that even a salad would be better. Perhaps that's the plan to get people to eat healthier. Make the fattening food taste so bad that it drives people to the healthy stuff.

It's not a matter of who kicked out who. The contract expired.

                      Re: DINOSAUR without McD

I am not be a big fan of McD - their food ain't great and company is a little flakey. But I don't think this is such a wonderful sign.
Maybe Disney has purposefully stepped away. The general idea of food liability could be a big issue in the future, and Disney wouldn't want their image tainted by that.
But losing a sponsor given the curent economic conditions is probably bad news. It further squeezes profits - that that can mean bad things for the future...
                      Just my 2 cents.

                        Re: DINOSAUR without McD

I'm glad to see no more golden arches everywhere while at the parks at WDW. One thing that really bugged me was during orientation, where they walked around MK before hours and pointed out little things here and there that most of you guys already know, such as the names in the Main Street windows as credits, and so on. Anyhow, we were out in front of the turnstyles, and were told to look back at the lagoon . . . "What do you see?" Um, a whole bunch of water, 2 (or 3 depending your POV) resorts, and that's about it? "Correct, you don't see anything from the 'outside world,' not even the parking lot. Walt wanted you to feel like you've stepped into a whole 'nother world, and since we have all this land here, he was able to do that easier than over at Anahiem." And then they went on about how he didn't like how people could see the hotel signs, etc etc from his parks, and wanted to be completely seperate, no traces of the real world could ever exist in his parks. A couple minutes later, we walked past by a couple McDonalds fry carts . . .

The signs were still there when I was in the park a couple weeks ago, so this IS a new development. Will this effect the ridiculously huge Mickey D's on the way to the resort hotels? You know, the one that has a shake that conspicuously looks like ATHF's Master Shake on the wall?

The removal will only effect the in park locations.
