  • [Question] What single thing did you splurge on at Disney World?

    Inspired by richboi117's splurge thread

What single thing did you splurge on during your Disney World vacation?

My daughter and I took the Breathless cruise to see Illuminations from the water. Very cool.

I consider my entire trip to be a splurge!

But to pick one thing? Hmmm...I'd have to say my Donald hoodies from the last two years. I got a grey one in 2007 that was $60 and a blue one last year that was $50.

Moonliner, the Breathless Cruise looks fabulous.

For my upcoming trip it's probably going to be dinner at California Grill on my birthday with MTNGIRL. since that was an add on day we won't be on the dining plan that night.

The biggest splurge was buying my nephew anything he saw that he liked and just buying soveniors for all my family members and all my closet dear firends. As for myself I think I just bought a t-shirt under $20...I preferred to waste on those who couldn't share the happiness of WDW and be there with me, so I bought a little bit of WDW to them.

Be sure to time it so you will be having dinner during the fireworks. They pipe in the soundtrack and you have a great view!

Re: What single thing did you splurge on at Disney World?

We like to splurge on our trips, cause like I said in the other thread...we are so spend thrifty at home..on vacation, we see something we like, we get it.

My husband and daughter love Mickey crocs. So, we get them at the parks. Sure, you can get them $10 cheaper off property....but, then you couldn't say they were from Disney World! My husband also likes hats. And those can be sorta expensive there. OUr daughter loves stuffed animals...and those little washcloths and rubber ducks. I always pick up everyone I see and save them for when we get home. As for me? Well, I dig the Christmas ornaments. I get a huge Micket head every year we go...and this year, I'll be picking up quite a few smaller ones...since we decided to do our whole tree Disney.

Other than that....restaurants are our splurge. We like to eat at the castle for lunch at least once every trip. We like to do a few character meals too. I figure...why stand in line to meet Mickey when I can relax, eat and meet him? Saves time....but, not money.

My 2 biggest splurges was getting a massage at the GF, and a ticket to see La Nouba!

                Both were fantastic!

I took my grandson on a fishing excursion back in 2005. It was quite expensive, since it was just the two of us. You can actually take up to 5 people. We had a great time. The weather was absolutely perfect, and Sean caught a whole lot of really big fish.

Renewed vows and celebrated our 10th anniversary on our February 2006 trip. Cost a LOT, but it was worth it - the memories (especially our two girls as bridesmaids) are priceless! Plus the wedding cake Disney supplied was really, really good.

My Biggest splurge was the behind the scenes tour of the living seas aquarium and the swimming in the tank with the fish.

                      It was amazing.

Typically whenever my family goes, we cheap out in every way possible... we eat in the room whenever we're there, eat at usually one of a few places in every park, and don't get many souvenirs. However, whenever we go, we usually splurge for ONE meal at an expensive restaurant per trip - Cinderella's Royal Table, 50s Prime Time Cafe, Nine Dragons, Whispering Canyon, etc. That one meal is always more memorable than a dozen cheaper ones.

Yeah it was awesome, but they didnt allow camera's in there, plus I didnt have a waterproof camera with me.

Next time I do it though, I will take pics.

And *that* is why we stayed at the Contemporary. With a 5 year old and a 2.5 year old it was "We'll go out on the balcony and watch the fireworks after everyone's bath!"
