  • Favorite obscure attraction?

What is your favorite WDW attraction, that is, well, off the beaten path?

Is it a show, a band, a snack cart...what are the things that one wouldn't find in a guidebook- but that someone should do/see to help have a well rounded WDW experience?

Hmm I don't know of too many attractions that don't make guidebooks anymore, they've all been closed (the Catwalk Bar ). As far as snack carts, I love Adventureland's eggrolls and there is some space in futureworld that just really isn't used anymore...my favorite.
Though I have to say for my favortie "obscure" attraction as in "low in people's opinions" would be El Rio Del Tiempo. I love that ride.

I have to agree with you I don't really know to many attractions that don't make guidebooks. And I will have to give you props for mentioning El Rio Del Tiempo it is still a favorite of myself and my family. You are so right I too feel like people don't appreciate the ride. Another would have to be The Carousel Of Progress. I feel like people have a low opinion of this one too and I love it alot I never miss riding it every trip. It's sad that fewer people don't do this one. Walt really did this one so well and the updates haven't been to bad either. Another would have to be Time Keeper truly underappreciated (even by the company it is closed so frequently). I never miss going to these when I am at WDW.

Okay, I know that most guidebooks probably make mention of this, but it's still something I love: Push the talking trash-can. I had so much fun watching Push interact with the kids, and it was fun to keep an eye on the operator too. He did a great job, hardly anyone noticed he was there.

Oh, man - I love that rain effect umbrella attached to the streetlamp in DIS/MGM. I thought this one might never make it to print but Kevin Yee fixed that.

Not an attraction per say but one of my favorite memories of our trip was the boys getting their hair cut on Main Street.

Watching Myuiki making candy sculptures in Japan. She is just so entertaining and she's funny too.

My vote: the talking drinking fountain in Future World. That and watching first-timers enjoy their first drink of Beverly .

The caves in Tom Sawyer's Island. Fun for all... in the dark.

Well I really do like DINOSAUR - I feel that it suffers from comparisons with Indy across the country... and I know it is hard to like it once you have experienced Disneyland's interpretation of the technology. But I like it.

I also think the gardens in Japan and the side-streets in France and Morocco are the highlights of the little 'hidden' attractions around World Showcase.

THANK YOU for all the input! El Rio Del Tiempo gets very little mention in guides we have. It is now on the 'list'

We'll keep an eye out for all the 'talkies' as well.

Less than 24 hours...I can hardly wait.

I told my wife- if we leave as soon as our oldest gets home from school and drive straight through- we could get there before the plane...

She rolled her eyes and said "down boy".

                              sigh
