  • Peter Pan Accident

My sources say that someone may have gotten hurt on Peter Pan today at the Magic Kingdom after becoming entrapped under one of the ships. More details if I hear them.

How in the world do you do that?

I hope this doesn't mean they switch it to DL's loading style (boat comes up, boat stops, people get on, next boat moves up) because it's very inefficient compared to the Peoplemover-style moving platform they've got at MK. The only problem with Pan loading, I've found, is a CM directing traffic in front of the platform, slowing things down.

      Read the news report here

And before anyone says "why didn't they slow the ride down for the man", note that in this attraction, they cannot slow down the boats (remember the wheelchair discussion a while back?)

That's terrible! I hope they can find a way of fixing the problem (if there is one) without slowing down the already slow-loading ride.

            Update
The condition of a man injured earlier today while attempting to board the Peter Pan ride at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom has dramatically improved, said an Orange County Sheriff's spokesperson.

Because the man's injuries are not serious and there is no crime associated with this incident the Sheriff's Office is clearing the scene and will conduct no investigation.

Do not worry, the man is in good shape (the injuries were not life-threatening)

Oh good. Now he can sue Disney, Peter and Wendy for all they've got.

WHat an update, amazing how now the injuries are minor when in yesterday's article they were "life threatening". Either one of those two articles over played something or he has miraculous healing capabilities.

Both were from the same source. The first time around, it was breaking news & they didn't have all the information (the people thought it was life-threatening). After further inspection though, they determined it wasn't. (BTW, the links are now updated)

I think the only life threatening condition this man has is his AGE!!!

I'm sure my number are off but you'll get the idea:

                          200 Riders/Hour * 14hr/day * 20 Years = 20,440,000 riders

                          1/20,440,000 = 0.00000004 % of riders get hurt.

Damn that sloppy safety record Disney has.

They do not have a cast member to assist every person, that's not their jobs (that job should have gone to the man's family).

This wasn't the CM's fault, it wasn't Disney's fault & it wasn't the man's fault. This was an accident. Not every accident has someone to blame.
