  • Has anyone here rode the new Mission Space yet?

So I understand the new no spin version of mission space is now live. Has anyone from this site ridden it yet? If so how is it? I've heard very good things from a few people and a few CM's at the ride but I'd be curious of your reactions here.

I went on it yesterday. It was ok, the box just shakes with no spin. It was cute but nothing to write home about.

If it gets a few more people on that ride, it was worth it.

I'm really curious how well it will do since the major draw (for me at least) is the sensations the ride gives you, not the ride video itself which is a bit boring.

You are right in that respect, I had never gone on the ride until yesterday. As I am prone to motion sickness, so I always skipped it. I guess my first review was kind of harsh.

I do think the themeing is wonderful, the queue is nice and the ride is very thought out but there isn't really much sensation without the spin so I understand the point of it.

The box shakes and moves with the story but as someone mentioned it just moves and not spins so all you really get is the starting and stopping sensation, the jiggle of landing and a little bit of stomach flip when you land.

Wow...seems like all the 'ump' is gone now that they changed it. Never really wanted to go on the ride (I suffer from motion sickness also), but now I wonder if I wasn't being to cautious to try it in the first place. I guess I could have been freaked when I first saw 'Back to the Future', but all the warnings did not keep me off. Could the spin been all that bad?

well the original ride is still there, so if you want to spin, have at it. Those of us who can't now have an option. A poster on another forum said they added a bit to the profile and that the only thing you really missed is the feeling on take off. Other than that he said you still got a great soaring feeling and it truly felt like you were crashing, etc... He said the soaring feeling came very close to the feeling your brain tricks you into having while riding soarin'.

Interesting... I will have to come down to EPCOT and try it, so I can properly review it. Maybe I'll do that tomorrow at some time.

I am excited to try it. I liked the original version, but there are days where I don't want a thrill and I like having this option. I bet I will do this one MORE than the other, now.

Re: Has anyone here rode the new Mission Space yet?

My friend Ryan and I rode on day 1. We both like the original ride so we went just to checkout the new version. Our expectations were pretty low and we felt a little lame for standing in the "less intense" training line with all the mothers and children. We thought it would us sitting in the ride vehicle watching that little screen. We were pleasently & suprisingly impressed. We felt all the same sensations as the o.g. ride but... less intense. We thought they did a very good job with this one. I say way to go.

We were wondering how this split training will effect the long summer lines. I mean M:S already can have a 2 hour wait time in the busy summer months and with the intense ride now running at half capacity that would theoretically push the wait time to 4 hours. what the heck? what are they gonna do?

I am very happy to hear about the change of Mission Space. I now will be able to ride the ride. Let's face it, I was too big of a chicken to ride the spinning version.

Long lines int he summer? I went in August 2 years ago (on a Saturday at that) and practically walked on every time.

While I've seen Test Track and Soarin with two hour waits I've never heard of MS having a wait like that. The longest I've heard of was a 30 minute wait. The only way I could see it having a two hour wait is if every other ride in the park was down.

Yeah, my understanding was that there are 4 centrifuges and that one of them has now been converted to the "spinless" version. That still leaves 3 out of 4 for the normal version.

Same here. Everytime I go the wait is anywhere from 10-20 minutes but other attractions like Test Track and Soarin have 1 hour - 2 hour waits.
