  • First Laugh Floor review!

There's a very early review of the Monsters Inc Laugh Floor Comedy Club available over at the Disney Blog -

    http://www.thedisneyblog.com/tdb/200..._special_.html

I think it raises some fair points and has got me very interested to see the final version...

Great Article. I am still confused why this is going in Tommorowland.

Sounds interesting but it does not belong in Tomorrowland.

Because the WDW managment did not want to build another building and they had this empty one sitting around in Tomorrowland.

The statement above is true, but isn't it said. With all the room that WDW has, Disney is afraid to build a new building? I am all for recycling, but not in park rides...

I still have major problems with this attraction after reading the review. Just a couple of questions:
              1. How can anyone figure Monsters or Comedy Clubs are remotely futuristic?
              2. Why do you have to text message jokes to get them in the show?
              4. Why, if this is to be a C-ticket or above show, are there zero AA's?
              5. What did they gain capacity or popularity-wise by removing Timekeeper?
              6. Why was Timekeeper seasonal/vacant for so long, if there was minimal reconstruction to the structure as a whole?
              7. What have they done to keep people entertained while waiting for 20+ min's?
              8. Going along with the reasoning that this was destined for a vacant location/old attraction why was it not place in: The backlot theater; The little mermaid Theater; All of the abandoned space in the animation building; the ABC theater(SST); Sounds Dangerous; or HISTA?

I was a MAJOR fan of Timekeeper. I will admit I have serious prejudice against this show. Sorry!

Edited: I retracted #3 as many people disagree with me on it and I understand why. I feel there is no real need to squabble over a dumb opinion.

sounds interesting. as far as no AAs. AAs are pretty much passe(sp) for kids. they like newer interactive attractions. thus the comedy club. so what if it is like turtle talk? there are several attractions at WDW that are similar and I haven't heard complaints about them. I hope they do some more soft openings before january. It would be fun to see this attraction and I like the idea of texting the jokes as that way they can weed out the inappropriate ones. after all this is a family attraction.

Turtle Talk rocks. AAs are history. The problem with these current setups is the intimancy is what makes them great.. and how to do that and keep the crowd volume up. That, and they need to keep using the technology is new ways, not just the same format, with different characters.

I still have mixed feelings about this new attraction but I still hope to get a chance to preview it when I am down in two weeks.

lets see, this is more than one character... it's more larger than tutle talk, it is comedy forcefull rather than kiddy fart jokes.. (though seeing a turtle far is funny )

from the review it sounds like it's better than.. oh wait.. pooh's playground is better than stitch never mind

Couple of points if I may...

                          * AA's are not passe! Two cases in point: Roz in MI ride in DCA, Capt
Barbossa in PotC. If done correctly using the latest tech, they still have impact.

                          * I completely agree about the placement of this ride. Nice concept, but
completely out of place in TL.

                            Re: First Laugh Floor review!

I do have to disagree with saying that AA's are passe. I don't have enough digits to count the # of times I saw random kids remark at how cool some AA's were, just on my last trip in June. Kids don't think AA's are lame or boring, what they find boring is the presentation or pacing. The reason kids get bored in The hall of Presidents or the american adventure isn't because there's no rta characters, it's because they could care less about pilgrims or Andrew Jackson's election, at that point in their life. AA's bring things into physical form. They can do what digital projections cannot, they can't do more, they sort of compliment each other. Like what nish221 said what about the yeti, jack sparrow, stitch (figure, NOT the ride), the angler fish, the wicked witch, lucky, & more. Some people only think tiki birds and country bears when it comes to AA's. AA's are in a constant state of advancement. Once again they're not better but help to compliment the real time animation experience.

Regardless of where this show is located... sounds horrible. The whole premise of the show is totally uninteresting to me, maybe because I do not care for comedy clubs or stand up comedians...
