  • What Was the Name of the Parade with the Giant Inflatable of Mickey?

I'm interested in knowing the name of the parade at The Magic Kingdom that featured inflatables, I believe, of: King Mickey; Queen Minnie; Knight Donald; Bishop Goofy; Squire Pluto; and, Jester Roger Rabbit.

I have a vague recollection of it, and I wanted to find pictures. Many thanks.

Possibly Remember the Magic? This was for the 25 anniversary of the MK in 1996.
There was on that I remember from the very early 90s that featured these floats and inflatables, I am not possitive of the name though.

    *EDIT*
I am pretty sure that what you are referring to is Mickey Mania which started on June 1, 1994.

Neither of the two mentioned above.

This was the 20th anniversary parade, "Surprise! Party Gras parade", just like the ones before at DL for their 35th, and TDL's Party Gras Parade event (not associated with an anniversary there).

Yep. It was Party Gras. I remember seeing that parade when I visited in 1993. The cast of Full House was down filming their WDW episodes the same week I was there but I missed seeing them by a day the 2 times I visited the parks. I did see Bob Saget & his family be the grand marshals of said parade though.

This was the parade that ran fron 1991 to 1994 before Mickey Mania. I now remember seeing this one.

You will find it interesting that this Party Gras parade and "SpectroTragic" both had their World Premieres on the same week, as both parades launched the MK's 20th anniversary celebration.

These inflatable Balloon premiered in DL for it's 35th Party Gras
celebration. By the way, Minnie had a Carmen Miranda type
hat. When these floats were sent to WDW, they were modified
slightly, before the were paraded down Main St at WDW.

              From Yesterland Party Gras

Here's another article that tells about the history of these
floats in more detail, along with pics of the "faloons" as
they appeared at both DL and WDW from the Jim Hill site

I'm a big fan of the Parade, but only saw it at DL. I think it
              was one of DL's best!

Out of curiousity does anyone remember the name of the daytime parade in the Magic Kingdom in October 2000? My aunt loved that parade, but she cannot remember the name of it.

I believe it is Disney's Magical Moments Parade.

Yes it was, right up there with the Lion King Celebration Parade. I also was lucky enough to see all of the incarnations of the Party Gras parade and while WDW's was a great version, I still believe DL and TDL had the best versions, with TDL's being the biggest version attempted due to the sheer number of performers and lavish costuming that appeared on that version. Plus, both DL and TDL versions had "show modes" that added an extra layer of fun and excitement to the overall show. Sadly, at that point in time, WDW still had never done a show mode in their parades. That was later changed with Magical Moments in 1996. Even DLP once featured a carnival style parade without balloons in the mid 90s. And the carnival concept for park anniversaries was so popular that TDL brought the carnival theme back for it's 15th anniversary celebration "Viva Magic!", which premiered one of TDL's largest and most lavish parades ever presented "Disney Carnivale!".

Oh the happy memories rushing back!!!

                        Thanks.

I know that the designer was inspired by artwork on a pack of Disney playing cards, and the design of the Mickey balloon was the one that really captured my imagination.

I never saw the W.D.W. parade in person, but I did see Party Gras at Disneyland. I absolutely loved that 35th anniversary parade.

SpectroTragic? What?! How dare you call SpectroMagic a bad parade! It's the most amazing nighttime parade at Walt Disney World to be sure, and the only two night parades that are better seem to be Fantillusion (in TDL) and Dreamlights. (also in TDL) Some may argue that the MSEP is better, but in terms of technology and sheer wonder, only those three parades are in that caliber.

                            On This Magic Night,
A Million Stars Will Play Beside Us,
                            cast a spell of Li-ght,
                            Glimmering, Shimmering, Carouseling

                            Round the world tonight,
                            a symphony in Spectromagic,
                            Pure enchantment lights our way...

Even if you think that its the worst of Disney's light parades, it does not make it a "Spectrotragic," its darn entertaining and I wouldnt think of missing it anytime Im at the MK.
