  • Disney confirms replacement brand for Italy Pavilion

Apparently more details have been posted to the CMs about the resturant change in Italy.

Alfredos will close in Aug as previously known.

The current resturant will be taken over by the Patina Restaurant Group starting Sept 1... apparently with very little changes, but with change over to a new theme by Fall 2008

This group operates Naples at DLR

I noticed that headline when I was on allearsnet a moment ago - then groaned to myself. I haven't been to the Italian restaurant there but I hope they keep it the same - has to be better then Naples! Ugh
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

Patina is a good group, it's chef Joachim Splichal. I've eaten at his flagship restuarant, Patina in L.A., when it was at it's original location on Melrose Avenue, and it was really excellent. But that was then. Times may have changed?

We used to eat at Naples all the time, but haven't for a few years.

I hope this won't start to be the trend at Epcot, corporate restaurants coming in instead of the original ones that are there now.

Mr. Channing... it's 4:25am. Are you like just getting out of bed, or ready to go to bed shortly?? Just wondering.

I get up very early. We have many tasks and experiments to take care of here at the institute.

Not just Naples. They also own Catal, the Uva Bar and Tortilla Jo's. They also have restaurants in a lot of the cultural complexes like the Hollywood Bowl, the Music Center and several L.A. museums.

So the Patina group is okay, then? Better than Alfredo's?

We'll just have to wait and see. The thing about resteraunts is that you can have the same menu, different name, but the taste of the food and the quality of the service will often depend upon the staff at the resteraunt. (Chef, Management, Servers, Bus Staff, Etc.) I think we should reserve judgement until we start getting reviews about those two areas.

Yep. I always eat their grub at the Bowl and it's great!

And in addition to the above locales in LA and DD Anaheim, they also have some great locations in Las Vegas. I love the little Bistro in the Venetian (forget its name right now).

This COULD be an improvement in the long run.

So long as they don't go the Naples route ... as that is likely the weakest of all their eateries and mediocre at best.

Pinot Brasserie. That's my favorite of the Patina Group restaurants that I've been to. Even better than Napa Rose, and that's saying A LOT.

I may hold my special birthday meal at Pinot this year. I'd do Bouchon but I don't get up early enough to travel into the city for breakfast. Heh.

                            Pinot or Tableau. Hmmmmm....

                              Non-Disney Restaurants at Epcot:
                              Mexico
                              China
                              Italy
                              Japan
                              Morocco
                              France

It has been a trend since day one, if I remember correctly.

I have never had a great meal at Alfredo's. My food is never hot there and tastes packaged. I hope the new group does a better job.
