  • Spaceship Earth and Soarin' Rehab update

    Spaceship Earth rehab update:

It looks like SSE's rehab might be very extensive as they are planning to upgrade most of the animatronics for the newer animatronics, similar to the Jack Sparrow animatronic figures added to POTC. The article also mentions the usual upgrades: modern special effects, lighting and costume upgrades. The rehab will also focus on the final decent portion at the end of the ride. This upgrade sounds good. I can't wait until they announce the composer and the new narrator.

    Screamscape:
upcoming rehab to the ride will be quite extensive, possibly replacing several of the ride’s animatronic figures with new state of the art Disney animatronics like the ones added to Pirates last year. This in addition of a bevy of all new modern special effects, lighting changes, costume upgrades, as well as the complete overhaul to the final decent portion of the ride.

    Now on to Soarin':

Looks like the are big upgrades coming to the Soarin' queue. The screamscape editor spoke to a park manager about this upgrade:

To paraphrase a quote from a park manager about the improvements, guest will never want to leave the queue once they’re finished with it.
    Sounds interesting.

Now a brief Haunted Mansion update. This sounds to be a rumor but I hope this is actually true because it will be a good upgrade for the attraction. This ride really needs some attention and it is crying out for an upgrade. The following is also from Screamscape:

A new rumor is being spread from the Mansion that there may be some dramatic improvements to the Mansion when it reopens and it may be more scary than ever. Of course, the mansion never really was very scary to begin with... so I’ve got to wonder what they’ve got planned. Of course, I also heard that WDI cooked up some big ideas for the Mansion rehab that ended up being kicked to the curb by the budget minded Disney World accountaneers, so perhaps this leftover echos from those old plans. Otherwise, with the rumors today that the Spaceship Earth rehab may include the addition of current generation lifelike Disney animatronic figures, that certainly would be a major plus to the Haunted Mansion experience. I’d love to see one of the suits of armor that has been motionless for decades suddenly come to life to lunge at your Doombuggie. Now THAT would be scary.
I do apologize from using quotes from sources because I rather note my sources than just create speculation among chatters of where I'm getting this information. I hope this thread is of somewhat interest among you all. Enjoy!

              Or adults
              Good morning, son
              In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
              It was pain
              Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

                ?

AAs take a long time to develop, so I would assume any rehabs being done this summer are already decided on if AAs are going in or not. Only difference is if the news is leaked or not

                Thanks for posting.

Yes. Haunted Mansion is going to be closed until mid-Fall. I'm not saying the date because I don't believe it will be on schedule.

Well... it's never too late to re-schedule your 'holiday' to go to DLParis instead, since their HM will be opened in Sept and they are celebrating their 15th anniversary with new rides and shows this year... Then come back to WDW after the HM and SE are re-opened. Just a thought...

Screw the kids. They don't pay admission... their parents do. So make it very scary for the adults who enjoy this park.

Kids actually want it to be scarier too!

The people that say "oh wont somebody PLEASE think of the children!" are a bunch of PC crybabies that keep Song of the South from getting released and removed most of the bouncy turbulence from the Indiana Jones adventure!

                              Um... okay.

On that note. Most of Disney's park attendance would be adults anyway, specifically adults without kids.
