The CP is a great experience. I am currently on my third. For living, I suggest staying at Chatham. It is the newer of the 2 apartment complexes, and it is really nice. I also suggest bringing a car, if you can. There are buses for those who don't have cars, but it is a lot easier getting around with one. Apartment sizes depend on you, but I have stayed in 2-BR and 3-BR and so far I prefer the 3-BR apartment. If I can think of anything else I will post it.

I have nothing but fond memories of the CP, I only wish I had done it before the summer between Jr & Sr year. I still have 2 extremely close friends that I have kept for almost 14 years due to the program. Lastly, being on the CP led me into a wonderful role for 6 more years with Disney.

My advice is only to record your adventure with pictures and video. You are going to have a wonderful time!

Could some that have attended please tell me what it is like? i.e. - what you're taught, etc. - I really have no idea what it would be like, but I'm interested in trying it out

Yeah, I know it's crazy. But I love Disney, and this is where I want to work when I graduate.

I feel that the CP is a great experience. I've learned good work ethnics, because the first CP I did was my first real job. I've learned how to do everything for myself and live on my own, because I have been commuting to school. So I feel that this will help when I move down to FL for good.

Also, when you do the CP you do not have to take classes.

                  Re: WDW college program

I am glad someone else posted about this cuz I was really curious about it myself, I am planning on going hopefully in my senior year of college at MU (University of Missouri) and I really wanted to find out about the program myself. I am going to be perusing a Education major when I transfer to MU (I am in a community college now) the major will probably be Middle School English Education...I eventually hope to move to Japan to do English teaching...but I want to work on gaining experience for my resume too!
I will post sooner to when I am planning on shipping out but any general info for someone in my field would be very appreciated.

                      Re: WDW college program

Ive only been here for two weeks and I'm already screwing up...but that was mainly in my choice of work and housing...and also my lack of socialization with peopler.

To be honest I wasnt expecting this to be a lonely experience but it's heading downhill pretty fast. Half of my roomies are pretty friendly (and Ive gone to the parks with them the first couple of days). The other half is completely over the top party and drinking crazy and tend to endanger the rest of the apartment. My roommate (the one I am actually sharing a bedroom) stoped being sociable and friendly with me a few days ago (for no reason) and we hardly speak to each other now. And I never see my friendly roomies cuz of our work schedules. Things are obviously not going well for me.

Anyways dont let that rant stop you, lol. The best tips I got for you is to be friendly and make a good repor with your roomies, coworkers, anyone you can possibly meet during your experience. I guess this kind of thing is natural for most people. But I must warn you: Dont expect everyone on the College Program to be just some Disney nerds. NOT THE CASE WHATSOEVER. You will encounter all kinds of people: Disney nerds are a rare find for me at the moment, you will encounter international students and as I have just learned, there are plenty of people who are only here to party.

And if you want a job where you are out there in the parks socializing with people ... dont pick costuming!

I'm sure it will get better. In only 2 weeks people could still be putting up false fronts about themselves. Like I said before, look for Gary in entertainment costuming. He's a manager and my absolute favorite costumer I worked with. He'd at least make work a fun place to be.

I never was a CP, but this sounds like any situation where people from different backgrounds are thown together. Cliques will form and people of similar interests will tend to group together. When you were at college did you commute or did you stay on campus? This sounds an awfull lot to me like what many people (myself included) go though their first year of college.

My freshman roomate was not a bad guy, he just had a different view of some things. We got along but I ended up spend more time with other people I had more in common with. In grad school I had a roomate from India who had been in the US a grand total of 3 days when he moved in. That can be very interersting. Chances are they are very shy about approaching you - as not only are they in a new job, they are in a new country. Mohammad and I had some very interesting conversations once I pushed him to "break the ice" Long debates about why baseball is better than cricket for example (I still think I won )

So chin up and just talk to people, I am sure you will meet people with the same interests as you as time goes on.
