  • Epcot Food and Wine Festival (Photos included)

With an empty stomach and our eyes on World Showcase, my honey and I headed to Epcot for some feasting and fun.

As always, if you wish to see all the photos I took today, please visit HERE.

Welcome to the Epcot Food and Wine Festival!

    First stop, Canada.

    Our choices:

    We went with:

Maple Glazed Salmon with Roasted Corn and Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup
Salmon was cooked perfectly and the cheese soup is always a favorite of ours. Wasn't enough!

    Next was New Zealand:
    Our choices:

    We went with:

The sauce had kind of a horseradish flavor with the lamb being a little raw for my taste. My boyfriend loved it however.

As a fan of tea we had to stop so I could taste some Twinings iced tea.

I went with Lady Grey, it tasted a lot like Earl Grey but a slight difference. Was great when we added some Splenda.

    Next was France:
    Our choices:

As neither of us enjoy snails we went with the quiche.

    Quiche au Fromage de Chevre

Other than cheese, I have no idea what was in this but it was very good. You should try it, at least once.

After asking if Phil wanted a crepe and when he asked, "What is that?" I had to run to the nearest crepe station and get one for him to try immediately!

After seeing one prepared he got a little anxious and took a bite before I could snap a photo. I guess he liked it.

Up next: Oklahoma (Three Sisters Cafe)

    Our choices:

    What we had:

Seared Buffalo with Scalloped potatoes and Onions

Buffalo is interesting, it tastes a lot like beef but a little tougher, the potatoes that came with it went well together.

Oklahoma was the only state that was represented, I'm still a little confused on that but they did have their own little display. It was very nicely done.

    Up next Morocco..
    Our choices:

    What we went with:

    Walnut Baklava, Bastilla and Sangria

We didn't ask for the wine but they charged us for it and I figured why not, so this was the only meal we had a wine addition.
I enjoyed the Baklava, the wine complimented it very well. The Bastilla was probably the most disgusting thing I ate all day. When asked how I would describe the flavor I replied, "If I enjoyed eating lotion, I would have this dish everyday." They said it was a chicken pastry, neither of us enjoyed it. Bleh. LOL

    Australia was next:
    Our choices were:

    We went with:

LOVED the Lamb Chop, the sauce added to the overall flavor and we enjoyed it very much! The shrimp was also good but didn't really have any extra special flavor to it.

    Japan was next,
    our choices:

    We went with:

This was also really great, the beef was crisp in the middle and cooked perfectly.

America was having a Pearville Fair that had a play area for children, it was really cute.

    Poland came next,
as it is part of my heritage (insert joke here) we had to try some Polish food. My grandmother made all of the things on the menu that we ate when I was a kid, it was very nostalgic for me.

    Our choices:

    We went with:

    Pazcki (Polish donut)

The kielbasa and perogies were fabulous. The donut was a little dry but good, not as good as grandma's I'm afraid.

As we were quite full at that point, we caught a showing of American Adventure. Phil had never seen it before and enjoyed it very much. I was just grateful to let my tummy settle.

    Italy was next,
    our choices:

    What we went with:

I have to say we expected something a little different than what we got. We thought it would be something with melted cheese and were a little disappointed with just cheese balls and mini tomatoes. It was ok but not worth what we paid for it, IMHO.

    Germany was next,
    our choices were:

    We went with:

This was another good tidbit, was just enough to enjoy the flavor but not to much that it was overwhelming. Also, the after taste of the pretzel was really wonderful.

Turkey was another country with its own area, they had this really great backdrop and some shopping. Didn't grab any food though.

    Next up was South Africa!
    Our choices were..

    We went with:

The topping kind of overshadowed the meal itself. We enjoyed it but had to scrap off the toppings so we could actually taste it!

    China was next,
    our choices..

    We went with:

    Chicken Cha Sha

This was good but tasted like every chicken on a skewer I've ever eaten at a chinese buffet. Still liked it though!

    Onto Ireland!
    Our choices..

    We went with:

This meal was great with all the ingredients together, it was an explosion of taste in our mouth. We enjoyed it very much and would have it again.

    Spain!
    Our choices:

    We went with:

Spanish Olives, Marcona Almonds and Chorizo Sausage

Phil liked it but I'm not really an olive person so I only enjoyed the nuts and sausage.

Our last and final stop of the day was Mexico..
    Our choices..

    What we went with:

Baked Tortilla with Chicken and Cheese

It was good, not something I would order if given the choice though. It tasted better than it looked, I promise.

Our stomachs could take no more, we would just have to come back and try everything we missed.

    Countries we ate:
    Mexico
    Spain
    Ireland
    China
    South Africa
    Germany
    Italy
    Poland
    Japan
    Australia
    Morocco
    Oklahoma
    France
    New Zealand
    Canada

    Countries we missed:
    Chile
    Argentina
    Greece
    Peru
    Turkey
    India

Over all we had a wonderful time, ate LOTS of good food and just enjoyed the ambiance of World Showcase. If anyone ever gets the opportunity, I highly recommend going to this event at least once. Also, don't forget to share, if we would have added the wine to every meal we would have spent around $7-8 per person, per booth so sharing is key!

    Ciao!

    Awesome report!
Believe it or not, I would have ordered pretty much the same items you ordered...well, except the alcohol and Caprese.
I agree with you on the Caprese, it is over priced. Personally, I have never seen it prepared that way. It is usually sliced fresh mozzarella, not bocconcini, alnog with sliced tomatos. Interesting service method.

Paczki's! OMG! I love those. back home in MI we always bought them on Fat Tuesday (prune filled is traditional but I liked the other flavors). And Kielbasa! Yum!

Do you remember the food offerings for Greece? Did they have soulvaki?

No goulash in Germany this time? Too bad.

                  Thanks for sharing Summer.

Can't wait to try some of those tasty things in a couple of weeks.

The preparation of the capreze is a bit interesting. They could have given some more cheese.

We were there on Friday!! We started in Mexico and were full, hot and tired by the time we got to Canada.
Other than cheese, I have no idea what was in this but it was very good. You should try it, at least once.
It was Feta cheese and sundried tomatoes. I tried some of my parents'. It was so good I am getting my own next time!

Oklahoma was the only state that was represented, I'm still a little confused on that but they did have their own little display. It was very nicely done.
                              They are celebrating their Centenial.

The California Roll in Japan was the best I ever had. Jeff raves over the spicy tuna roll.

We love Pazcki!!! Our local Publix gets them in around Fat Tuesday.

Argentina has the best empanadas!! We always start with one of those!!
