  • The closest Wal Mart to Disney?

It is just over 6 weeks until our WDW vacation and we want to visit a Wal Mart store during our trip. Could anyone tell me the closest Wal Mart to Disney?, i am from the UK so i have no idea. I tried to look it up on Walmart's site but there are about 20 stores in Orlando, we will not have a car so will be getting a taxi there from POFQ. I have heard that you have to pick carefully which store you go to as some have a reputation for shootings in the parking lot, muggings, carjackings, etc, apparently the store in Kirkman Rd is one to avoid.
I would really appreciate any thoughts and advice on the nearest and best stores to visit.

Mainly, as we are going for 2 weeks we wanted a couple of mornings or afternoons away from the parks to do some shopping. We are going to Florida Mall one day and we thought of Wal Mart as another as we have heard a few Micechatters mention that they went shopping there in their trip reports.
Is it not a good place to shop?.

Speaking from own personal expience, Wal*Mart has never fallen under the category of good (shopping experience, not corporate policies). Everything from poor layout to poor customer service. It is not exactly a place I could see as for any lengthy shopping.

It depends Charmed, some people like Wal-Mart, others don't. I like it only because they have a good selection of things in the electronics area.

            There is one on 535.

            Sorry but... shopping??

            *EDITED TO ADD:*

You mentioned that you are going to the FLorida Mall one day. I recommend that you skip WalMart and head to Festval Bay Mall on I-Drive instead.

Yes Definitely we've been to festival bay before. You really ought to check that out. It's definitely better than Wal Mart Shopping wise.

Here are the 2 best locations for you. I have included the address and distance from POFQ. The biggest problem will be your return trip back to POFQ There are a lot of gypsy cabs waiting outside. The ones you will take from POFQ are run by the Mears group. When you get you cab ride over see if the cabbie will give you thier card to call them for the return trip back.

                Walmart Supercenter
3250 Vineland Rd Kissimmee, Fl 34746 4 miles at the intersection of 535 and the Osceola Parkway.

                Walmart Supercenter
8990 Turkey Lake Rd Orlando, Fl 32819 7 miles

Hope this helps. Don't worry about the questions why would you go to Walmart.
Disney does not offer competitive prices. Example 6pack of American Beer is around $12-14 Along with other items.

Do they have Target down there?
I would go to a Target over a Wal-Mart, but Wal-Mart has cheaper prices.

And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed

Re: The closest Wal Mart to Disney?

The one on 535 (the Vineland address given above) is the close one. Exit WDW on the I-4 side (not the 192 side) and take I-4 north for one exit (maybe 2 exits, depends on where you got on) at the 535 exit. Turn right. The street will curve around after a mile or so, and it will look like you're backtracking. Wal Mart is on your right hand side just before you cross Osceola.

Hm, wait a second. Maybe you could just leave WDW on Osceola (this is the DAK street) until you get to 535. Never gone that way.

It is Target's answer to the Wal*Mart Super Center. Super Target's are larger and feature additional products such as groceries. A Super Target is larger in size than a Target or a Target Greatland store.

This seems pretty mean and somewhat ignorant. Just because you've a bad opinion on Wal-Mart does not make it bad. I happen to work in the Connection Center of a Wal-Mart here in Minnesota, and you want to know something, the people that work there are good honest people that need jobs just like everyone else. We work hard and provide good customer service, a friendly atmosphere, and convienence. The Target in my town is always empty and the Wal-Mart is always full. Why? Not simply because of the prices, but because most of our guests say we provide better assistance and know more about our products than our local Target could ever hope to.

I think the Kissimmee Wal-Mart, located off of Osceola Parkway, which I visited frequently on my college program, was a clean, friendly, and convienent place as well. Don't be so quick to judge. Remember, if everyone shopped at Target, it would become everything you hate about Wal-Mart. That is why we have competition in this country.

Maybe you went to the SuperTarget (we have about 10 of them in Orlando alone) that is located one mile down from the Wal-Mart on 535 closest to Disney. To get there... just go pass that Wal-Mart on 535, until 535 ends at US192, then turn left, and the SuperTarget is an 1/8 of a mile on the left, behind the A&W Drive in restaurant.
