  • Disney's Hollywood Studios On Updated WDW Site

    http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/index

So nice to see this. I always thought that Disney-MGM Studios was kind of clunky. This and the fact that there was only one MGM related attraction at the park. I can only hope that Disney's California Adventure receives a name change that is just as classy souding as Disney's Hollywood Studios.

The special effects added to the WDW website are coolness in motion. The Expedition Everest gif is fun to watch. The sounds amplify the excitement. There's plenty of fireworks!

Am I the only one that isn't a fan of a theme park starting with "Disney's"? I would rather have it called Disney California Adventure or Disney Animal Kingdom or Disney Hollywood Studios.

It's not Disney's Magic Kingdom or Disney's Epcot is it?

But it's great that something official is visible.

You bring a valid point, Coheteboy. Honestly, Disneyland and DisneySeas are great names - terrific hooks. Other than that, I think that the use of "Disney's" and "Disney" in the name of a Disney theme park is too repetitive, redundant, noncreative and trite.

Sure, the company is concerned with marketing the Disney brand name. Howe, we don't have to have our respective noses rubbed in it in order to recognize when we are on disney property.

Think about this - the first theme park created after Disneyland was the Magic Kindom, which was followed by EPCOT Center (now EPCOT). As Walt and brother Roy were each involved in the plannin stages of WDW, neither of them were so hung up on their own name that they felt compelled to tag everything under the sun with it. This didn't really happen until the Eisner era.

Hollywood Studios, Orlando or Buena Vista-Pixar Films are two names out of my head that would be just fine without the abuse and overdependance of the word "Disney".

        the titles I like are:

        -Disneyland (magic kingdom too)
        -EPCOT
        -DisneySea

Not a fan of Disney-MGM Studios, Disney's Animal Kingdom, Walt Disney Studios Paris, Disney's California Adventure, and now Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Names are important and I suppose harder to come up with in this day and age. Hollywood Studios could be anything... so I see how they need to put the Disney name in there. Perhaps because the name is so generic they don't want to deal with too many imitators out there?

I suppose. There's some consolation in that Disney's Hollywood Studios has more of a streamlined phonetic sound to it than Disney oooof Mmm umph GMmm Studios. Again as you have said, at least it's finally official.

Yeah! Don't be a lagger. You could pull a cheesy funny and add an "s" to Disney, then "X" out the "MGM" and write Hollywood up above it.
