  • What are your favorite WDW Memories of 2007?

Okay - so it's 2008 now. I was just thinking over (after looking at all those photos I sifted through yesterday) what my favorite memories are for this past year (WDW!) Or DL, or DLP, for those who haven't been to WDW.

I have a lot, obviously. I am just going to skip over the castle stay, Epcot 25th, Haunted Mansion, wand coming down, late nights at Epcot - those are all fantastic, but I figured I'd add something different for myself.

Back in October, I stayed at Fort Wilderness for 4 nights as part of RADP (newsgroup). I've known many of the people I hung out with for up to 10 years online (some in person). The thing is, I had received a tent for a gift. What I didn't realize - since I'd not opened it - was that there were no instructions. And tents aren't built the way they used to be, with spikes to drive into the ground and such.

So - first night, I slept in my car. My tent looked like this:

At least the bathroom was mere seconds away:

Oh - and it was really cold (for me), so I used my deflated air mattress as a blanket. I kept the car closed, because I was afraid someone would see my feet and think I was just a body left there!

The second night, I drove home to sleep. I'd been offered help by then to get the tent up, but it never seemed to mesh with when I was at the site. The 3rd day, some nice camping people saw me attempting to put it up, took pity, and did it for me. The guy also took it down on the last day, though I probably could have figured it out myself. I bought them a bottle of wine at Publix for being so nice.

Everyone still laughs at me occasionally for that. And out of the 4 nights Food and Wine Festival, the only place I got a little toasty (wine-wise) was at the campfire that night. Those pics aren't being posted. (they aren't too bad, but I like them private!)

Anyway - in 30 years, that will probably be one of my biggest memories of 2007 as far as Disney is concerned! Anyone else?

My favorite was going in Dec with my son (14 months) for his first visit (out of the womb ) Oh, my husband was there too
He got to meet Mickey and have dinner at the Crystal Palace. And was not afraid of the characters. It was great watching him trying to tough all their noses

And seeing EPCOT without the wand

Wow, there are so many even though we were only there for a total of 14 nights this year.

              Gay Days weekend:

Our Gay Days crew: Dusty, Fishbulb, Rixter and Mickeymaxx. There aren't any better people a couple of "Breeders" could choose to spend a weekend with. Seriously.

Our first and last dinner at Alfredo.

The WDW Gay Days meet day at Magic Kingdom. Such an awesome group.

Meeting DOOM BGI (a west coaster) at an east coast meet. And the friendship we have enjoyed since.

The East Coast Micechatters who made the whole experience so worth it. (Summer, TDLFAN, Witches of Morva)

              Invasion II:

My MIL's face upon first seeing the castle after hearing how awesome it was.

Our son's face when he convinced everybody to go on Stitch during MNSSHP.

              Two awesome meals at 'Ohana

Dinner at Teppan Edo and an awesome view of Illuminations

Not to beat a dead horse, but our friends we had the joy to spend so much time with (Dusty, Fishbulb, Rixter, Mickeymaxx, Savik101, Skywaygrl, Monorail Man, Doom BGI, WoM)

Nighttime rides on Everest and "Not having to stop once".

I know there are MANY more.

Well, I have not been to WDW in 2007 so do video or photo memories count?

                - Seeing the permit to dismantle the wand (among many other memorable things I have seen on the OCCompt site).

                - Watching the wand come down piece by piece on the S&D web cam.

-Watching Martin's Celebration 25 tribute videos.

Finally checking out the Flower & Garden Festival at EPCOT.

The fugly wand finally came down.

Experiencing the Pirate & Princess party in the pouring down rain (and going on the Teacups 3 times in a row as a total walk-on as a result).

Meeting a bunch of really cool MiceChatters.

Staying at the Poly for the first time. What a fantastic resort!

Seeing Illuminations: Reflections of Earth again.

Watching my kids try and pick up the fiber optic lights from the ground at Epcot.

I finally got to go to WDW in June of 2007!!!! It was an incredible time, hot and crowded, but a totally new experience and I loved it!

My favorite part of the whole trip, probably going to the Animal Kingdom and Typhoon Lagoon. Two totally unique parks.

I can't wait to go back!

The first time I saw the Nemo musical, which is by far the best show Disney has ever done, including Broadway.

First seeing Spaceship Earth without the wand again, of course, was a great moment.

I did want to say that I really enjoyed meeting the MC'ers this year. Rick and Lou are SO nice, there are so many great people here. Eric, Dusty and Summer...I hate naming names, because I have met so many people. And I'd met TDLFan prior, but he didn't remember me (back around 2002).

But - I will never do a 7 hour walk around WS again. Next time, I'll do a lap every hour, to keep awake!
