  • Never Judge a Book by it's Cover

It's an old addage, I know...but it rings true always.

Just an interesting little story for ya, that I thought I'd share and what I was reminded of:
    __________________________________________________ ________
I was at the gym this morning and there's a nice fellow there that I chat with. Actually, I chat with a lot of people in between 'sets', but anyway, this particular guy I've struck up an acquaintance with. Nice guy.

Looking at him first time, he looked like a co-worker of mine and the fact that he's about 6 ft 6 - and I'm only 5 ft 10....and he's quite 'tattoo'd'. By his appearance, I figured he's some sort of tattoo artist or something. I figured a single guy - not sure why.

As I have gotten to know this guy, he's really really a nice fellow. About two weeks ago I told him about my impending 'child' and he said, 'Yeah, I have 3 little boys of my own. The youngest is 2 1/2." I was somewhat taken aback by this - and thought it was cool. He said, "My wife stays home and cares for them while I go out and make a living." Cool!

Today we were chatting and each day he always says, "Hey, another day closer! What is it now, 6 days?" Well, he's right - it is 6 days until my wife's 10/18 c-section. How cool of this fellow to remember.

As we chatted a bit today, I find out he's a HISTORY TEACHER! NEVER in a million years would I have thought that this tattoo'd/pierced guy was a TEACHER and I must tell you, I thought that was sooo cool. :yea:

Anyway, - just my little story and what I was reminded of today. What something seems on the outside might not be what is on the inside.

Have a great day everyone! :yea:

Im 5'2" and about 110lbs, so Im pretty small. I also have several visible tattoos and piercings. Im a mother of 2 kids and most of their lives Ive lived on my own, working a full time job to support myself and them.
Most people that see me think Im about 18 years old and a trouble maker because of my appearance. If they see me with my daughters I get told that its nice of me to watch my sisters for my mother. When I tell people they are my daughters, their looks go straight to disgusted. I can only assume why.

      1. From the way this was going, I thought you were going to say that he hit on you in the showers.

      2. Your wife is pregnant? Congradulations.

A tattooed history teacher? Well, I guess they need a gimmick to keep the kids' attention these days.... Just kidding....

Actually I think that's pretty nice. I've noticed a few tattoos on some of the lady deacons in my church; doesn't change who they are inside. It's just body art. I'd think a guy with a lot of tattoos would lend a refreshing angle to a history lesson. I remember I had one history teacher who had some tattoos from his service in the Marines during WWII (he fought on Tarawa). Never a bad idea to learn a history lesson from someone who's actually gone out and lived life rather than just studied it from some ivory tower.

It's the "normal looking" teachers you have to watch out for. :lmao:

HAHA! I don't shower at the gym anymore for that reason - I WAS hit on in the showers once.

Oh, and thanks for the congrats! Only 6 days until the cesarean - providing she 'lasts' that long! She could go into labor and then they'd have to do an emergency cesarean......

This reminds me of a song.

"Don't get strung out, by the way I look, Don't judge a book by its cover!
I'm not much of a man by the light of day, but by night I'm one hell of a lover!
I'm just a Sweet Transvestite from Transexual, Transylvania!"
            What an idiot....

Yeah, I do that Twitter thing.

But maybe the rain isn't really to blame,
                      So I'll releve the cause,
                      but not the symptoms.
