On The Side of the Freeway...

Wife and son and I went to Disneyland today for my 35th B-day, as many of you know. Had a nice time.

We headed home around 4:45pm. While on the dreaded, bumper to bumper Eastbound 91 Freeway, I was looking out onto the shoulder and noticed a STAINLESS STEEL BOWL and a SOCCER BALL. I thought those were ODD things to see on the shoulder of a freeway - just sitting there - never to be had by anyone again.

In your travels, what strange things have YOU seen on the side of the freeway? Do share!

a sofa right in the middle of the lane on the freeway, almost hit it too... then another time we say a Carl's Jr Star, the actual sign that they use on the resturaunts.... it was pretty bizzare

Re: On The Side of the Freeway...

Having spent some time around radio traffic reporters, doing some reports (especially on the weekends) and having driven here for 30 years....

I've seen spills of every kind of fruit and vegetable imaginable...
and I've either seen or heard of just about every kind of household item or piece of furniture you can think of on So Cal freeways. Either people are just careless in tying things down, or winds blow them or whatever.

Veteran traffic reporters say that you really need to watch your step the first weekend of every month, when a lot of folks might tend to be moving. And gee, what do we have coming up...

It's amazing the stuff that gets dumped on the 99 frontage road.... not too long ago there was a whole entire matching set of furniture for a den or living room: couch, love seat, recliner, coffee table and a floor lamp!!! The heck??? )

Yes, it is unusual to see a lot of things in one location at one time. That living room stuff I saw on the side of the road was all set up, just like someone moved their living room outside and left it there.... creepy. All that was missing was the TV!! The floor lamp was even next to the recliner!!:lmao: Cracks me up just remembering it.

A child in his underwear - True story, we we're driving down the 60, and came to a dead stop around the 57 interchange. Suddenly, we saw this ≈12 year old almost-naked kid suddenly run troughout the cars on our side of the freeway. The police were trying to catch the kid, who obviously had some issue.

Called that one into KNX1070 real fast. At first they didn't believe me until they got multiple reports.

I see single shoes (usually sneakers) or baseball caps around here a lot. It boggles the mind.

I saw a heard of horses running down the 91 right by Green River DR. This would have been a looong time ago. Still horses on the freeway was kinds funny to see.

                                        That's what I call a roadside stand.

You'd have to say that furniture is from the late modern California asphalt period...
