  • The Understatement Of The Day!

And you thought you were a heavy sleeper...

    Orange County Register (ocregister.com)...

ANAHEIM – Police officers used a bullhorn early today to try to wake up the man asleep in his idling pickup with a gun next to him in the middle of Ball Road.
    But that didn't work.
They tried launching pepper balls through his open window – but he snoozed right through, they said.
It took more than 40 minutes of yelling and bean bags shattering the pickup's rear window to get him to stir.
When a drowsy Martian Serrano, 26, of Anaheim opened his eyes about 3:40 a.m., he found an armored police vehicle staring back at him – and officers barking at him to get out of the truck, said Sgt. Rick Martinez of the Police Department.
Serrano got out of the white Chevy four-door pickup – and the truck rolled forward – bumping into the armored Peacemaker vehicle. Serrano had fallen asleep with his foot on the brake, Martinez said.
"He must have been really tired," Martinez said.
Officers went to the intersection of Ball and Harbor Boulevard just after 3 a.m. after someone reported a truck stopped in the middle of the street. There they found Serrano – and a 9 mm gun sitting next to him, Martinez said.
Police cleared the intersection and stopped traffic on Ball and Harbor. They brought in the armored vehicle – and tried to wake him up.
"When he wouldn't wake up, they used the bean bags to shoot out the rear window to get a better look," Martinez said. "That's when he finally woke up."
    Serrano was arrested.
It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
Serrano – who does not have a driver's license – is being held at the Anaheim detention center on suspicion of felony possession of a gun and driving without a license
He must have been really tired. Our understatement of the day.

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

No, that would be it but that wasn't it. Unbelievably, I know, I made a mistake at first. But now it's in the original post.

Ok, I was really confused there... makes more sense now.

Though, this is just about the funniest things I've read in a while.

That is really something...and it happened less than a mile from the DLR to boot.

An unidentified college student from Minnesota was seen fleeing the area after throwing a can of yams at the driver.

Sorry Barry. Still laughing at the other thread. It is indeed the understatement of the day. That kind of thing will get you shot in Riverside county.

It had to be alcohol/drug related. I dont care how tired you are..no one sleeps that heavy.

I would think alcohol was involved, but who knows. The gun? Bizarre.
Can anyone sleep witht their foot on the brake? Who really knows? Apparently so - as it happened.

It is a bizarre story however.
