  • Random Acts of Vandalism

I should be at work, but here I sit waiting for the police to show up. Last night two windows on my Durango were smashed out. Funny thing is that I didn't even notice the windows were broken until I was in my car and started it and realized my car engine sounded louder than normal. It's funny how you go thru your normal routine and don't notice something so blatant. Anyway, I went back in the house to tell my DH who ran out to survey the damage. It was then we realized that his car had a window smashed as well.

We know this was just a case of vandalism because they didn't take much of anything that had real value to the average person. They left behind car stereos, several cases full of CDs and even my husbands golf clubs. They did take some boxes of copier parts out of DH's truck and a rolling cart with some demo hearing aids, etc. out of my car. The liftgate glass and the rear right passenger window were smashed in my car and DH's passenger window of his pickup was smashed. Luckily our car insurance is taking care of everything. I love them, they do all the calling and arranging for things to be taken care of and we have no deductible for glass replacement. We should have new windows by 5 p.m.

Thanks for letting me vent! Stuff like this just makes me literally sick to my stomach. Maybe I can salvage the day and get some stuff done around the house and take a nap. I've gotta try to find any little bit of good that I can out of this day.

It wasn't me, it was Lisa!

It's just beyond my comprehension as to why people are so destructive. Glad things worked out for you with your insurance!

                    Re: Random Acts of Vandalism

I'd probably get arrested if someone smashed my window and I found out who it was.

Hope everything works out for you! Ugh, I'm connected with my car, I'd be REALLY upset if something similar happened.

It does seem like some random destruction, especially with the stuff they took.

That's the kind of crap you expect to randomly happen on Halloween, not just some random night.

I've never understood the thought process behind destroying someone's personal property.

Thanks for all your good thoughts everyone! You are cheering me up.

Kevin is on the phone with the police right now filing a report. I wish both our cars would fit in the garage but with a Durango and a Ram pickup that's not gonna happen, especially since we have cabinets on both sides. I did tell Kevin it's time to install one of those obnixiously bright motion sensor flood lights to our garage. Can you believe this happened right in our driveway?

Luckily they didn't steal my little gold Mouse Ears hanging from my rearview mirror or my new Mickey Valentine antenna topper or I would have had to ask for the death penalty. :gladsad:
