  • Discount stores - an open rant

Feel free to add your discount store rant here.

What is with stores like Target, Walmart, etc, and what do they have against nicely pressed clothes? Everytime I buy clothes at one of these stores, they take them off the hangers and scrunch them, not fold, scrunch, down into the bags. I understand the need to preserve the hangers, and I understand the need to use bags, but I don't understand the determination to make my brand new clothes wrinkled! And folding a t-shirt takes mere seconds, they could do it while I'm processing my card!

    What makes you mad?

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

      What makes me mad?

That I can't force myself to have an early night cos I always think I'm missing out on something even though deep down I know I'm clearly not. But still I have to stay up. That makes me mad.

But so does careless clerks at Walmart!

They often offer me the hangers at Target. I always say no, because I'm going to wash my clothes before I wear them anyway.

I would like to blame Target for making me (making me!) go there twice in 2 days and spending too much money!

Yeah, I'm with Susie, I'd wash the clothes first anyway from Target. Wouldn't buy clothes at Wal*Mart. I hate the thought of other people wearing my clothes before me.

My rant is the quality of their shoes. They always ick me out. I haven't bought any (well, I did once, but returned them), because they all look cheap and uncomfortable.

Actually, I do buy some of my "trendy" shoes there. You have to check the quality, but the Issac Mizrahi line, especially, is nice and the shoes are made of real leather. I bought a pair that I literally wore out and had to go on Ebay to find another pair!

Well, you have to check 'em out first, but mine are leather and fantastic. But I do consider them "throw aways". You spend $20, you get $20 worth of shoe.

I know they just toss the items in the bags with everything else. I also wash my items .

                  Maybe ask them next time

The only thing I have to rant about is the cosmetics section. I will admit sometimes I like to go cheap and buy some things over there but I have to be really careful. People just go over there and stick their fingers in everything, even when there is a sample out! Same with lotions, you have to make sure the bottle is still sealed properly because people open those up and use them also. Nothing worse than buying something then come to realize it is half gone.

I hate it when they offer the hangers and then proceed to smash the clothes down in the bag anyway. I also always wash my new clothes, but that's from any store -- any store that has a fitting room means that someone gross and nasty could have pranced around in front of a mirror in it. To me, it doesn't matter if the purchaser is going to take it home and wash it anyway, there is no reason to scrunch it up.

Oh and yeah, Target. It's like the store has eyes; and can see how much cash is in my wallet, and can suck it straight out.

Eww, yeah, I'll jump on board with this one as well. That's icky. One time I bought haircolor and the tube that has the actual dye was missing! The mixer was there, the conditioner was there, but no hair dye. Go figure.

I hate how my sister doesn't say "target", but instead says "tarjay".

I agree, I ALWAYS wash my clothes before I wear them, without exception. I hate the smell of new clothes, it is gross.

Also, on a side note, I would rather burn my money then give a penny to Walmart or Sam's Club.
