  • Anyone else made Ratatouille after having seen the movie?

I'm making some fresh Ratatouille from scratch and I was just wondering if anyone else has been inspired to do so after having seen the film.

^ No, but I've been inspired to eat it!

Good luck with it and if it comes out tasty, hope you'll share the recipe with us.

Re: Anyone else made Ratatouille after having seen the movie?

I just sent my mom a recipe last night! She was talking about making something with zuchini and yellow squash and how her boyfriend really liked those vegetables. I said she should try to make a ratatouille and she didn't know what that was, so I told her and then when I got home, I found a recipe and sent it to her.

For anyone trying to make the one in the movie, it is actually (this was news to me, so don't think me a "foodie") a Confit Byaldi and not a Ratatouille. The New York Times posted the recipe.
I love my awesome crazy wonderful friends!!

My ratatouille doesn't look anything like what was made in the movie. Every thing's diced into 1" cubes.

The recipe I'm using is from the Joy of Cooking. This is the second time I'm making it, but the first time with having the ingredients called for (except for fresh thyme). It tastes pretty good so far, but I'm adding a teeny bit of balsamic vinegar which the recipe didn't expressly call for.

MMMM, yummy. Fresh basil makes all the difference. Much tastier this time.

            Good morning, son
            In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
            It was pain
            Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

No. I wouldn't like what is in it. I don't care for stuff like onions, zuuchini, or eggplant. Mostly the whole thing.

                    We haven't cooked any.

But we went to a small French Restaurant the day we saw the movie and it was their vegetable side of the day.

                    It was yummy!

I was inspired to eat ratatouille. I was in France the week after I saw the film and was really hoping to see it on a menu. I ended up eating more from little street places with sandwhiches and meats, so no such luck. Too bad the only French place I know localy is a crepery.

Used to make it years ago, back in my vegetarian days. Simple and delicious.
