  • New Cm Nametages Announced

The new nametags have been announced. Instead of "Class of..." the nametags will list the CM's home town, or the town they live in currently.

I can't decide which town to put.

This information needs to be input to the portal by May 31. After that, the CM's nametag will default to "Anaheim, CA"

Liked the "Class of" tags, sorry to see them go. Suggestion, put down your birth town, otherwise all the tags will mostly be from the Orange County area, and that's no fun!
Mom, remember, it's not what a person is like on the outside that counts,
it's what they are like in their HEART!

Wow, you guys are like the dealers in Las Vegas now!

Didn't they have these name tags a few years ago, too?

I really liked the idea of the Class of tags.

I also liked the tags at WDW for the HCOE - with 'California - Florida - Tokyo - Paris - Hong Kong' on it. I think all CMs at Florida, Paris and Hong Kong should have had those tags for the HCOE, not just Florida. California was good with the Class of tags, and Tokyo doesn't really care that much about California

Ah yes, finally finally the 50th is showing signs of ending. The nametags are supposed to start distribution in early/mid September. This time CMs will only get 1 nametag instead of 2 which of stinks.
I think it would be great if some people took the opportunity to change their name or put some random hometown (Springfield, NT anyone?).

Psh, the "Class of..." tags are just embarrassing -- an overwhelming majority say 2005 or 2006.

I can't decide. I was born in Whittier, but within 18 months of my birth, I lived in La Mirada, Whittier, and La Habra. Now, I live in Foothill Ranch (although I don't know who knows where that is).

But I have a speech impediment, and people always ask me if I'm from Brooklyn. I think I could elminate a lot of awkward conversation by just putting that.

I personally liked the "Class of..." tags. I could look at each CM and look at the year they started and if was too recent and I had a question to ask I'd look for someone else with an older year.

Yeah, that was my first reaction when I saw this thread. It just highlights the high CM turnover by putting the year on.

I guess the hometown thing is a better way of varying the nametags. Unless they wanted to start putting "Class of April", etc. Perhaps really senior CMs would wear "Class of January" LOL.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

I think just those CM's who work in the hotels got the Hometown tags.

LOL... I agree; I liked the "Class of... " tags, too. They carry a bit of history and pride with them, but become a bit redundant when they all say "Class of (this year)".

I can understand, unfortunately, why they are changing.

Since the "Happiest Homecoming" theme name tags will end with the end of the 50th, I wonder why they didn't just go back to a more classic design with the castle, or better yet - Mickey. That tag would be able to fit anywhere in the DLR.

Is there a thought behind the hometown thing? Maybe that guests from out of town might see someone who came from where they are from?

I agree that the "class of...." should have stayed, if you had more than, I guess, 10 per cent of the crew had been worked there more than five years or whatever. Next time I see my old pal Alan Crowder at the Plaza Inn I'll get a closeup of his "Class of 1976".

PS...If only I knew back then what I'd want to share now, I'd have saved a lot of my old employee stuff...I had a silver five-year service pin...and I would've taken more pictures...but, "who knew"? (LOL)

Hey...that sounds like a neat idea. Where the CM works, they can have Mickey on their name tags dressed up according to which "land" they work in. Safari Mickey for Adventureland, Astronaut Mickey for Tomorrowland, Sorcerer Mickey for Fantasyland, etc. But too bad they're only given one name badge.

That sounds pretty neat, but it might be impractical for many CM's who work in different areas from time to time. I was thinking more along the lines of the of the classic Mickey they used as one of the designs, I believe, in the 80's...that way it could be used in both theme parks, and the hotels, DTD, etc.

I hadn't noticed...do the different parks, and areas of the resort, all use the same style of tag, or are they different?
