  • Restaurant to Rival Hooters to open in New York City

I only check in to the New York Times' gossip column, PageSix, every couple of days. You boys will be thanking me for it.

The first one will open in September at Seventh Avenue and 49th Street in a 16,000-square-foot space that once housed a Houlihan's. David Burke of davidburke & donatella will be in charge of the food, but the big draw might be the Miss Hawaiian Tropic beauty pageant winners who will wear mini-sarongs and bikini tops and take orders. Adam Hock, co-owner of the Pure nightclub in Las Vegas, calls these sexy servers "table concierges" and describes the eatery as "a 21st-century version of the Playboy Club." He plans to take the concept worldwide.

    You're welcome.
Anything listed on the park maps as an attraction is fair game for inclusion in the Rally.
I cannot confirm nor deny the inclusion of any attraction in the Rally.

Like Hooters, I think this chain will have a hard time finding enough beautiful women to do this job in smaller cities. Any Hooters outside a large metropolitan city (4 million in surrounding area) that I've been to have been to are sorely lacking in eye candy. (New Hootel in LV might be an exception to this.)
Nice girls, sure. But too much makeup and too much, um, eating of leftovers, leave a lot to be desired. And the food is not my style (I'm on a nutrition kick).

^ Not really. I wasn't really impressed with the Hooters girls, or the Hooters hotel.

You have to remember, the hot cocktail waitresses are working at places like Caesars, Bellagio, Mandalay Bay, Venetian, Wynn ... where they get tips from big spenders, not hooters guys.

You're probably right about LV's Hooters.
What's the point of going there, when you can go to a nearer one?
What's the point of going there, when you can see live nude hooters down the street?

Prediction: Closed in two years. Bought by Wynn.

I went to hooters once, with my brother. We decided that this should be their motto:

"Come to Hooters! The wings arn't so good but our women will make you lose your faith in humanity."
St. Elizabeth, Patron Saint of Themed parks. Protect us from break downs, long lines, and used gum. Amen.

              Here's where they're in a good position:

They're right by the MGM Grand, at the Trop/LVB intersection. The Monorail plans to go to the Airport. If you haven't noticed, to get the the airport, it will go right nearby Hooters. So they're right there in the Monorail's project path of growth and could get a station. Down the street is the Hard Rock (big youth party spot) and coming soon (provided funding) between Hooters and the Hard Rock is George Clooney's Las Ramblas project.

I saw that article too, sounds like a place I'll have to check out when I'm in the city.
