  • Computer Screen Hoods/Visors

Ugh, ok I have been looking around for one of these and can't find any. I looked in Staples and Office Max and on their Web sites.
It's one of those tri-fold things that goes over the top and around the sides of your monitor to help prevent glare.
I've done a few Web searches and can only find metal type ones that cost $20 to $30.
I'm looking for a cheaper, cardboard one - I know they exist because ergo uses them at work - but for various reasons I won't be using one of theirs.

Anyone have any idea where I can get one?
    TIA

Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

How about just using a box  Cut out the bottom and 1 side and you're done

YOu know if you bought a Lacie Electron Blue monitor it comes with it. I don't know if they still make them seeing how mines a few years old, but here she is:

So is this for a CRT or LCD?

I didn't buy the monitor... it's my work monitor. I'm just lucky it's flat screen! (I don't know if it's CRT or LCD? )

I might have to make one for myself. But I was hoping to find one that looks professional, beeing work and all

If you're concerned about glare then it's probably a CRT (if it's big & bulky, that's what you got). LCDs don't really have any glare problems. I upgraded from a 19" flat screen CRT to a 22" widescreen LCD here at home last year and I'm so glad I did.

Well, the monitor's pretty thin, itself.
I have a privacy screen which works great but it STILL gets glare. (THe windows are'nt tinted, the shades still let light through and have gaps between them... ) Now the sun is glinting off the cars in the lot across the street. So it's mostly to block that but seeing as my boss sits behind me and can see my screen... Oh, and we're not allowed to move them either. UGH.

I know these things exist... I just find 'em.

^^^ See if your boss will requisition them for you. It never hurts to ask. Especially if you can get a medical note for it.

                        Re: Computer Screen Hoods/Visors

I CAN get one from work, but only through ergo. And ergo won't like the way I sit (one leg under me) and I'm sure I'm doing other things wrong. Plus they sit there and watch you work, which creeps me out. And then they do a follow up to be sure you're doing what they tell you. Ugh. If what I'm doing isn't proper, whatever, until I start hurting, I'll do what I want.

And yeah, you can't get one w/o an ergo appt. I checked. And they don't just look at your screen and are like, "Glare, wow, we'll order you a screen." It has to be a REAL appt.

But I did just remember that the mailroom has a big office supply book. I wonder if ergo orders them from that, I'm pretty sure anyone can order from there. Hmm, I'll have to check next week.
