  • Knott's Announces New "Scare-Zone" For The 2010 Halloween Haunt

Sure, it's a little more than seven months from opening but Knott's Berry Farm announced through their Twitter, yesterday, that a new scare-zone themed towards "Victorian Steampunk Vampires" is in the works. The new scare-zone will replace The Gauntlet, which runs through Camp Snoopy during Halloween Haunt.

The title of the new scare-zone will be released through the Knott's twitter soon.

well after getting over the butthurt of losing my fave zone themeing (loved the renaissance gone wrong), i do like the "steampunk" "victorian" aspects of the new zone, but tacking on vampire to that just makes me groan

i've been so over the vampire theme at various haunts for a while now and would love to see Haunt let vampires go by the wayside for a year and then bring them back fresh and with a new bite

and please, no sparklers or shimmers
Will there be screams when the sun sets,

Elly, I agree with you. Although I thought Club Blood was a really good maze last year. I do like the new theme, I think it will be cool but enough with the Vampires. This just seems like they are trying to capitalize on the current fad.

I agree. I wonder how the new Werewolf is going to do. I'd love to see some of that at the Haunt.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I really like the idea of a steampunk style scare zone but not really sure about throwing in vampires as well. We'll see, though.

Considering that Wolfman is Universal, I'm sure they will have something with that theme this year. Which should be pretty awesome.

Well... I know from youtube videos that Knotts capitalized on the pirate thing going on with the Pirates of The Carribbean movies with that pirate maze... it seemed like a cool maze and I so wish I had gone to Haunt to experience it but oh well... If the Werewolf thing becomes a fad, I am pretty sure they will capitalize on the popularity of Werewolves with something to make money off that fad... I am in the minority though since I love vampires and the whole awesomeness of them! I was kinda hoping they did a whole vampires in the Bayou type of thing since True Blood is like my favorite Vampire show on TV... I so cant wait for season 3 on HBO!

I like the whole Vampire idea for a scare zone... but it makes me wonder? Will they get rid of Club Blood in place of this?
Add me... I dont bite LOL!

This is how I feel about it.

Steampunk = YES!, YES!, YES!, YES!

Vampires = They're replacing the Gauntlet with them?! !$%^&*^*&!!!!

They already got Club Blood, leave the vamps there. If they're going to do a scare zone, give us a werewolf or zombie scare zone.

i have a feeling that Club Blood could be gone, it wouldn't make sense to have vamps on the far side of GTS and then a zone of them in CS....but that's just my own thoughts on that

Yarg, but what else can you actually use for "Victorian" and "Steampunk" themes?

Oh, and Elly, I'm going to cover you in glitter just for kicks when you come visit. LOL. I kid, I kid.

True, but if Club Blood is still here this year it's just overkill. I don't care if one group is more modern day vamps and the other is "Victorian Steampunk" vamps, it's just too much especially since vamps do nothing for me. (Dominion of the Dead being the exception)

As for what else you can use with Victorian Steampunk, simple. Dr. Jeckall and Mr. Hyde, a re-imagined twist on Frankenstein. (It worked well over at Universal Orlando.)

Re: Knott's Announces New "Scare-Zone" For The 2010 Halloween Haunt

After doing some thinking, I came up with perhaps the reason they threw in "vampires" with it is because not everyone is going to know what steampunk is. That way, for those who come in and know of steampunk will be excited to see that. On the other hand, those who dont know of steampunk will at least recognize the fact that the characters are vampires and just think that they're in a scare zone with a different twist on vampires. It's like a happy medium.

As for victorian, the steampunk style is pretty much victorian-era with fancy gadgets and gizmos.

I like the steampunk vampire idea but i am going to miss those gauntlet guys!! they were so great this past year i loved chilling and watching them they did a great job! but i also hope that we don't lose Club Blood that would suck (bad pun)!!! I love vampires always have but not the ones that glitter, i am a true blood fan and i go all the way back to Lugosi!! Oh the Gauntlet sign was sooo amazing with all the pumkins i hope they don't get rid of that and still use it somehow.
Counting down the days to Halloween Haunt!!!! Knotts Berry Farm
                            I love True Blood sundays!

Unfortunately, after seeing the released sketches, that's exactly what it looks like they did: took some Sweeney Todd costumes, added welding goggles and tatters, and called it a day.

                              So far, color me unimpressed.
