  • News Renaissance Pleasure Fair's kids get in free is April 13 & 14

The Original Renaissance Pleasure Faire in Irwindale, California, has kids get in free weekend this Saturday and Sunday!

I've been to this faire 6 times in the two previous years so I might post another update later.

It's supposed to be in the low 70s on Saturday and this is the most kid-friendly weekend of the faire. There is a kids area.

If you liked the "Tangled" show in Disneyland,
you might like the spirit of the Ren. Faire.

    Recommended acts this weekend:
Moonie and/or Broon They have separate shows throughout the day, then Moonie and Broon perform together at 5:30.
    The Clan Tynker Family Circus
    Circa Paleo
    Hey, Nunnie, Nunnie!

And for grown ups: Poxy Boggards.

Does anybody have pictures? Is it worth the money? I haven't done this since I was a kid.

        I say yes! And "Huzzah!"

We went six times the last two summers. Check out their website and do take my advice on recommended acts in post #2 above. They are anything but #2! I've seen all but one of them mentioned above and all have been rated highly in recent polls in a ren faire magazine.

Like Knott's Scary Farm, this event has an enthusiastic "Let's Put on a Show!" vibe,
and it's obvious that many people involved are not in this for the money.

I also recommend Steak on a Stick, and Broon's stand with bowls of apple slices covered in caramel.

Yes, because I told them you're cool. Don't let me down.

Actually the website states that no coupons are not required for kids 12 & under to get in free this weekend. There are other discounts for adults they'll email to you.

Yeah no one is going to believe I'm under 12. So this is good.

We went yesterday and our favorite act was
                  The
                  Clan Tynker Family Circus.
We hope they return next year.

My wife and daughter let me leave them and catch Poxy Boggards at the Rogue's Reef (the bawdy stage). They and the women's group before them--I just caught the end of their act--really were obscene and funny. I'd describe it all as high-brow low brow. Great fun! When our daughter leaves us (or becomes a teen who doesn't want to hang out with us) going to this stage with my wife will be a great time!

Depending on when you caught us, it was either the Merry Wives of Windsor or the Belles of Bedlam.

Glad you had fun in any case. I'm the idjit up on far stage right with the banners *waves*

more of a "future reference" comment. Every year the wife and I buy the early bird specials for us/kids. Worst case scenario it means we go at least once to Faire.

Over the past few years the promos haven't changed. The first weekend promo every year has been Buy 1 adult ticket get 1 free. The second weekend promo every year has been kids in free.

So 1st weekend we pocket our adult online tickets, buy 1 ticket at the gate, get 1 free (promo) and kids use their online tickets.

2nd weekend we use our adult online tickets, kids are in free (promo).

So we've been doing 2 Faire trips for the past few years by paying for 1 extra adult ticket! Just something to keep in mind.

Speaking as someone who's been working at the event for about twenty years now, you're correct - there's always a kid's weekend with kid's specials, there's always a BOGO somewhere etc.

There's an email list on the faire's website that sends out updates if you're tracking them. It's an event ticket sales list more than an info list, so keep that in mind.
