  • [Rumor] Paramount Park In NJ??

Rumors are growing the NJ/NYC area will get a Spain like ParamountPark !!!! So many people travel to NYC and people in the area travel to Orlando, This could turn the theme park industryon its head. Thoughts?

    Re: Paramount Park In NJ??

It is surprising that Paramount Park in the US would based itself so far away from the competition. Even if the park is similar to what's being planned for Spain and England, I still think that hardcore Disney and Universal fans from the east coast will still venture to Orlando.

Paramount isn't really even in the theme park business anymore. They sold the parks they owned in the US to Cedar Fair in 2006.

You might be getting this confused with the park Paramount is building in Murica, Spain. They started construction last year and it's apparently set to open in 2015 as (they're hoping) competition with Disneyland Paris.

this, I'm not even sure if paramount has a park in Canada or the US anymore, they sold off wonderland in toronto to six flags a few years back, I think the op is most likely mistaken.

So is California's Bay Area the home to Six Flags Discovery Park but people still go to DLR.

The cold north east doesn't need a real park when it has plenty of seasonal parks. Orlando makes money 365 days a year.

Paramount sold all their parks to Cedar Fair, not Six Flags. Canada's Wonderland included.

                EXACTLY.
It's too damn cold and nasty in ny/nj for too many months of the year.

DLP gets freezing this time of year and Tokyo regularly has snow. If a park is built right it can still work in a cold climate year round but it would be a much harder sell than Orlando or Anaheim

                    Re: Paramount Park In NJ??

Actually Six Flags bought LaRonde near Montreal. The park you might be thinking of is Canada's Wonderland in Vaughan, Ontario just off Hwy 400. That park was part of the package when Paramount sold off their parks to Cedar Fair.
                    Current coaster count: 179
100th coaster: Phantom's Revenge at Kennywood
                    150th coaster: Intimidator at Carowinds
last new park addition: Six Flags Great America

That is true, but why is the South a vacation destination in the US? Because we like to go to warm spots. I suspect you may understand as Europeans and Asians bypass their home resorts to take in the US resorts in Florida and Southern California.

As recently as last week, they had not started construction on the actual theme park.
