  • SFoG Trip Report With Photos!

Well, photos first (in mostly the same order has the story).
    ******************

Ah, Goliath, the point of the trip.

OMG! Deja Vu has people on it!!! :diesofshock:

Ninja looks really nice with the new paint. Still too brutal to ride though.

You know, one would think adding a 3rd train to Superman would be good...except that we were next to depart and this added like 30 minutes to the wait.

    Radio Disney...in Six Flags...yep okay...moving on.

This guy is brutal, intense, and uberly fun. An excellent addition!

This is what Deja Vu looks like from the queue line.

Wait...what the hell is Mickey Mouse merchandise doing in Six Flags??

    Mind Bender...3 loops...what?

Ah Batman, an okay attempt at themeing...too bad the ride sucks.

Did they finally get the second train on Ninja? And have you ever seen the third train on Superman?

Re: SFoG Trip Report With Photos!

        Now the review.

        ****************
Well to start my Aunt learned a good lesson...even if it looks like it will rain and all logic says the park should be uncrowded...get there for opening. We hit the park at 11:30am to find crowds out the wazzoo.

So we get to the park, parl by Batman, and what do I get excited to see? Deja Vu is running...with people!!! Excitement builds...then we see the lines of choral groups entering the park.

So we get in and go check out Goliath's line. 120 minutes. We were not ready for that kind of line yet, so we head back to Deja Vu...and get in the queue... I was amazed.

        It broke down.

So we head over to Superman, which at the time was everyone's favorite coaster there...get to the front...it breaks down. At this point it's been 20 mintues of looking at rides so we get in line for old reliable, Great American Scream Machine. We ride it, it was good, but on lift number one we notice Superman is working, so afterwards we run right back to it.

We wait, and wait, get into the station, get to the gate, next to go, then train #2 comes in and parks in station #2 (which we've never seen used). Uh oh.

So the 3rd train comes out...and it takes some time to add it in...(really should have just done it at opening) finally we get on, Superman is great. But at this point it's 2:30pm we've done two things, and we try to get food.

Lines lines lines. My aunt is ready to leave. But we get food, and rejuvenated, we go get in the line for Goliath. Each train that comes back to the break run is just loaded with thrilled people. 2 hours later we find out why.

IT IS AMAZING. There is no bad part to this coaster. It is good run after good run. The hill is great! The helix is great! The bunny hills at the end are excellent!! There is nothing bad about this ride. After a crappy day and 2 hours in line it was all worth it! It turned our spirits around.

So we went to Gotham City to give Batman another shot. Nope. Still lousy. It just runs too fast at the end...it needs speed regulation.

So then we did Mind Bender because the line was short...still never found that third loop...

So then the magic happened...Deja Vu was running...with people...stayed running through the line...we entered the station...we sat on it!!!...it ran with us!!! I got to ride Deja Vu after only two trips of trying!!!

...really is a tough rough coaster. While everything on Goliath was fun, nothing on Deja Vu was really fun except the 70 mph rush through the station. But I rode it...that is what counts.

        Acrophobia ended our day.

In the end 7 rides in 10.5 hours is a lousy score...but we rode Goliath and I got two new credits...and Goliath was worth the whole day. If you can get to Six Flags over Georgia and ride it...do it! Of the 40 coasters I've ridden this is now easily #2 best.

Dunno, didn't ride it...didn't notice. I'm pretty sure they ran two trains on Ninja last October though...

Not before yesterday, but they brought out and ran 3 trains on Superman.

I'm actually glad the place has been crowded.

The Ninja traines were either replaced or completely rebuilt. I was there a couple of weeks ago after it opened from its rehab and only one train was running. I'm just glad the Ninja got such TLC, so much for the rumors of its demise.

                I <3 Ninja!

The whole Confederate, French, and British side of the park needs to be dealt with. Last couple of times I was there the park was crowded but the whole west side of the park was abandoned. It'd cost a lot but I'd love for some sort of walkway between Superman and the Confederate Area. The park is currently a 6 shape and I think making it more of an 8 would be great.

I could see that actually...because yes when you think about it...it goes Cyclone, the Acrophobia...maybe Canyon Blaster...but from Acrophobia to Superman there is not a whole lot of rides. Actually, looking at the 45th Anniversary maps they give out at parking there are not a whole boat load of rides in that park to begin with...

Are those the really big ones? I've been looking for them. I just hope they don't try and do any big advertising for SFOG's 40th, won't that be confusing?

Yeah, rather big maps...done out in a sketch-like drawing.

Ahhhh the memories. I lived in Atlanta for 7 years and SFOG was my only theme park quick fix for that time(unless I took a weekend trip to WDW). Ninja does look nice with the new paint Job. I found that The last few rows on Ninja give a smoother ride than other sections. My favorite ride was always The Georgia Cyclone, but Batman is still pretty fun.
