night clubs. Watch your neck or you'll be next!

i thought the dead idol was returning this year...does the dark relm maze cost money since you have to pay for the lazer gun? is the grudge a full maze or a themed area? and is Lost vegas a new maze or just has a new 3-d effect?

Lost Vegas is a new maze, in 3D
The Grudge 2 is a new maze, with studio money backing
Dark Realm will be a walk thru with the OPTION to rent a lazer gun (this is my least liked new thing, i fear the good people who work as monsters are going to get ravaged even more than the usual punching and kicking they have to endure from stupid guests)
Dead Idol Live! is a new stage show for this year
Will there be screams when the sun sets,

Re: Halloween Haunt Mazes and Shows Announced!

I'm not all that pleased with this year's offerings.

The Grudge sounds like a lame idea for a maze, was hoping for a silent Hill inspired maze with chainlink fences, charred walls, and grotesque characters.

I miss Malice as well as Lair of the Spider. Lair was the only maze where a monster got me every time.

Scarey Tails was incredibly horrid last year. Overlit and few scares. Plus you had to see it to go into the Asylum (arguably one of the best Mazes.)

What I also find suprising is the absence of Carnivorous Clowns, especially when there is no maze in its place.

The laser tag area was bad last year because it is so small and right next to the street. I hope they added covering or else the area will be way too well lit for laser tag.

Also, what happened to Dr Cleaver and Ed Alanzo??? These two shows were things I never missed because they were so hillarious.

One idea they have still neglected to use is adding a new ride for Haunts only in the Kindom of the Dinosaurs space. They could make an all out maze where sets and AAs can be more intricate due to the fact people can't touch them.

the "real" rides are there all year long, why would anyone want to waste time riding them when the rethemed things for Haunt are only there for october...

i havent' ridden a "real" ride at knotts since about..oh, 1987...when we go for Haunt, its Haunt stuff or nothing

but yes, the "real" rides are open

I went to Haunt twice last year because we missed a few things due to my friend getting food poisening from the sub place out front. (DON'T EAT THERE). We got free tickets to come back so the second time. About halfway through the second time we were done with the Haunt so we went on Ghostrider. The line only took about 2 hours.

From what i hear from people working Haunt, The Grudge 2 maze has had a TON of movie poured into and may be one of the most stylish and well put together mazes ever.

I miss Malice as well as Lair of the Spider. Lair was the only maze where a monster got me every time.
Malice, god i miss Malice-fantastic maze. Curse of the Spider- ok maze with a FANTASTIC soundtrack, the bug noises made me itchy

Scarey Tails was incredibly horrid last year. Overlit and few scares. Plus you had to see it to go into the Asylum (arguably one of the best Mazes.)
Feary Tales was beautiful, the Fearies were fantastic, but the scares were minimal i agree. I hope its goes better in its sophomore year. And the whole having to go thru one maze to get into another, lame idea by Knotts imho

What I also find suprising is the absence of Carnivorous Clowns, especially when there is no maze in its place.
Carnival of Carnivorous Clowns (affectionantly known as "C3") closed after its run last year becuase the arcade has been remolded into a Johnny Rockets. You just might find a C3 influence in CarnEvil this year..but you didnt' hear it from me.

The laser tag area was bad last year because it is so small and right next to the street. I hope they added covering or else the area will be way too well lit for laser tag.
Dark Realm was not a lazer tag area last year, it was a "scare experience". Its virgin year was...well, it needed some tweaking. Adding the lazer gun is Knotts' idea of tweaking...i personally think its a horrible idea and is going to increase the injuries the monsters already get from unruly people. But it could also turn out to be a great idea. No one will know until the maze opens.

Also, what happened to Dr Cleaver and Ed Alanzo??? These two shows were things I never missed because they were so hillarious.
Yes, Dr. Cleaver was great, very funny. No clue why he's not back. Ed Alonzo was GREAT! But the Good Time Theater (yes i know its the charles shultz theater now, but i'm nostalgic) was just too big for his comedy. I'd love to see him come back to a place such as the theater that's near the Log Ride and the carney games. That's more his size of venue.
If you go this year, do NOT miss Hacks! in the Birdcage Theater or Marty Putz' Prank Party in the Wheel Wagon theater...those two shows are DO NOT MISS type of shows.

One idea they have still neglected to use is adding a new ride for Haunts only in the Kindom of the Dinosaurs space. They could make an all out maze where sets and AAs can be more intricate due to the fact people can't touch them.Trust me, if people wanted to touch them, they would. You wouldn't believe, or maybe you would, some of the stories I hear about how guests act at Haunt. And yes, its been a long standing want/desire/hope for KBF to finally make some sort of good use of the KoD space. There was a ride thru maze in there back in the early/mid 80s that scared the bejeezus out of me and I'd love to relive that. But dont' hold your breath.

All posts in bold are merely my own opinion, neither right nor wrong---just mine

^ if its your only chance to visit haunt and KBF, then i would recommend going to KBF during the day. it "closes" at 530pm, then "reopens" as Haunt at 7pm (or 630pm if you go to the pre-scare buffet) so you can focus only on haunt things for the night

trust me, if you're a haunt newb, it'll take a whole night just to enjoy the haunt stuff. and you can easily do all the "real" rides during the day when the park is open as regular KBF

and i know what you mean about not living there, we live in Reno and like i said a few posts above, i haven't been in the park during "daylight" hours since about 1987. I have never even ridden Ghostrider...but that's ok, beucase i'd rather spend my 3 nights at Haunt than one DAY in the reg. park.

I know you have to pay for 3D glasses, are they required to go through the maze?

I don't go there for scares. I like to people watch, the shows (mainly the hanging), and atmosphere. The rethemed rides had LONG WAITS. I'll do those first thing.

Of course... last year was my first year going to Knott's Scary Farm

Nope, they are not required, but they really do enhance the maze. Espcially when the mosters are wearing 3D paint on their faces.

We take advantage of the early entry via the pre-scare buffet to get Red Moon Massacre and whatever disaster is put in the mine ride (poor mine ride monsters, they try their best, but the setting just isn't ever used properly. Plus last year i didnt' see the Necronomicon in there! Disappointment city ) I'd also highly, AGAIN! , recommend Hacks! and Marty Putz. You'll laugh so hard you'll pee Boysenberry punch!

I can't begin to tell you how badly we blew it our first year. mostly by going only one night! (And a friday night to boot, learned that lesson quickly) Now we go at least three nights every year. The first night we do all the mazes, rethemed rides and the hanging. Second night is usually the Meet and Greet for the Haunt site we "hang" out on. Third night is mostly the shows we want to see, the atmosphere of watching the sliders and monsters in the scare zones and doing the mazes we really enjoyed again.

oh yeah, another thing! If you've never gotten a snack at the Ghost Town Grill and sat out on the patio to watch the monster work their magic...its truely a GREAT experience...unless of course one of them steals your food while you aren't paying attention....
