Very cool. The Gotham backlot is the only thing I enjoy exploring at Six Flags. Would love to see an entire area themed this well with excellent attractions.
Women, they make the highs higher and the lows more frequent.

Even though I like Marvel Super Hero Island, I gladly would trade it for that Batman themed area in that artist rendering. Nice find Captainmisery.

Good article. I love hearing about stuff that was never developed for Disney and Universal.

Would've made IOA look like a Six Flags. No thanks. Marvel allows for more popular characters to use.

So is Spider-Man. But let's not let this thread get into a Marvel vs DC debate.

                  I love Marvel Superhero Island.

What does DC have besides those two? Exactly.

Let's see, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, the Flash. Wonder Woman being the most famous of the 3, obviously. JLU helped bring a lot of characters into the forefront.

Batman is one of my favorite characters and some of those attractions (like riding in the batmobile around the island) look like lots of fun. This looks like it was a great park idea. Maybe someday we'll see Batman get the kind of experience he deserves instead of the garbage Six Flags throws at him.

Whether you like Marvel or DC better you have to admit that the full theming works so much better than the giant cutouts they have at IOA now for the Marvel Island....

Thanks for proving my point. Only a huge comics person would even know who 90% of those characters are. I certainly don't. Having never read a comic from either company, I can still name quite a few Marvel characters by comparison.

The amount of known DC characters wouldn't have mattered anyways since it was all to have been about Batman, the only other characters mentioned were Superman and Robin along with some of Batman's greatest arch enemies, all of those mentioned are well known.

I know it's only 1 artist rendering, but the theming looked to be quite nice, and much more immersive than Six Flags current DC tie-ins in their parks, as well as MSHI's too. That looks to have been a pretty cool recreation of Gotham.

Yeah I agree it's silly to turn this into a DC vs. Marvel debate. If we stick to just Batman and Superman the point is moot, both of those charcters are widely known by the public and would make as much sense as the marvel characters for basing an amusement park land on.

These plans are amazing and it's a shame it was never realized.

The theming has always been my complaint about Marvel Island. It doesn't feel like you're anywhere. It just has giant cutouts of the various superheros. How amazing it would have been to have actually been inside Gotham.

When I was eight or nine, I used to DREAM about a Batman park. I know there was also a Superman park in the works--it actually looked quite similar. I wish either of these were made--Six Flags does such a dismal job of taking advantage of the properties they are able to use. Though the upcoming Dark Knight dark ride/ coaster could be pretty cool.
