  • News Sea World Declining Attendance

Article from the San Diego Union-Tribune:

SeaWorld sees another year of declining attendance - SignOnSanDiego.com

Too bad there are such strict rules imposed on any Sea World project. It has quite a bit of potential.

Hopefully Sea World will benefit from Turtle Reef and Manta.

Hopefully they stay open I can only imagine what kind of hit they took last year after that whale attack.

      Re: Sea World Declining Attendance

As the article mentions, attendance this year has been very good and next year's debut of Manta should bring in the crowds too! Now that the parks have stable management in the Blackstone Group, as opposed to those InBev weasels, the parks have a very bright future! ;-)

Sea World could really use an edutainment dark ride for the whole family. They made a big mistake in going down the thrill ride route which has muddied their educational mission and veneer.

Manta is supposed to be half edutainment/half "Thrill" ride. We will see how much that helps. In the wake of the 2012 socal theme park madness that will ensue, I am hoping Manta will be the sleeper hit.

The TEA report is something that the general media eats up, but the industry itself privately doesn't pay that much attention to.
