  • 2011 What should be its next attraction???

Since Transformers is the next Big attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood and thats not coming out until 2012, what should be Universal's Big 2011 Attraction???

I see two "cheaper" options but would still help draw more people into the park.

    1) Make the Simpson's Ride in 3D! This was my biggest disappointment when I went on the ride when it opened, I never got what the point of changing BTTF to the Simpsons if it was nto even in 3D plus the fact that People still LOVE 3D and hey its a cheap way to get more people into the park

    2) Redo The House of Horror's, the maze is getting old, I think some set redisigns would not only help the maze during the year but also help for them to make it more "usable" for HHN.

    3) Lastly Redo the Curious Geroge play area into How to Train your Dragon, I rather have a new coaster in this area (using the same theme) but not only was the movie a hit it also works well with the Shrek theme in that area.

Any other idea's Relistic or not post them here (if you think they not realsitc post that)
    Happy Halloween!!!

Jerrod, do you actually know, in dollar$, what it would cost to redo "Simpsons" in 3D, both in redoing the film, adding stereoscopic projectors, and modifying the pre-show to include glasses distribution, collection and cleaning? Didn't think so. It might not be that "cheap". I think they should just ride the momentum of the "Kong" wave, which does NOT appear to be dying down, and let it sustain them until the opening of "Transformers".

      Agreed.

House of Horrors and Simpsons are both relatively new attractions. They don't exactly need to be updated over some other things at the moment.

Star Wars not made in 3D being covered, so is Titanic...I'm sure it costs but the crowds you would draw back in would pay for that.

Kong may be big now but most people that have seen it (epically teens) don't think its that amazing.....Avatar had better 3D effects to be honest. But some people still do eat up the whole 3D thing so just saying that instead of building a whole new attraction thy can just improve on one to draw people next summer. See the things Disney does to better than Universal is they have new stuff every year not every 2 years. Next year Disney is releasing 2 NEW rides, Goofy's flight school, a new parade, and new scenes in WOC....so yeah they need something more than...we'll you got Kong last year to make people come back.
        Happy Halloween!!!

          Guess what...

          Screamscape is reporting:
"While we wait for Transformers to open, my sources tell me another park attraction already has a huge target on its head to be removed next. With the options of possibility being quite short at this point, it probably comes as no surprise that Terminator 2: 3-D is said to be next on the hit list, though honestly I’m still surprised that they haven’t opted to replace Waterworld yet first. Choosing a replacement for Terminator may be a bit more tricky, as the attraction is actually built on the top floor of a large parking structure, which would put some serious limitations about what might replace it., unless they’ve got their eyes on a new 4D Theater concept that could be used to replace all the Terminator attractions world-wide. Anyone know more?"

If this is true, I am shocked. The Terminator 4D stunt show is still entertaining to me, and a lot better then any 4D shows around still.

I say put a smaller Great Movie Ride - esque dark-ride where House of Horrors is. The showbuilding (including the theater behind it) is definitely large enough for a small dark-ride that can talk about the History of Universal Films.

I can't imagine Waterworld going will go anywhere soon. It still manages to eat up massive crowds.

Blah! Replace WaterWorld with an MIB-style ride already!

I have mentioned this previously in a different thread so please forgive me if I sound redundant....The Globe Theater is not some wasted empty space (like the Wild West Arena). The Globe is used for corporate events, private parties, and other events multiple times a week (today it's being used for the KROQ "Bleed It Out" blood drive). During the busy seasons, it's not uncommon to have something scheduled at the Globe everyday of the week, sometimes with two or three events per day. There is no way The Globe is going to become part of an attraction.

So, why not suggest something like: "Come up with a new show for the "Shrek 4D" theatre",since it's been the same movie for over 7 years ,or, as has been suggested by Screamscape," Come up with a new show for the "Terminator" theatre", since that show will be 15 years old this Spring (since it debuted in Florida in 1996).
Nothing personal, but you seem to be enthusiastic about seeing enhancements and plussing done to attractions in the park that are already some of the newest ones, which a lot of people haven't even seen yet.

I think the house of horrors update is a great idea. THe scenes are just boring. I think they should use scenes from movies that might actually be scary. From more recent movies. Even just freddy, jason, leatherface, mike myers. They could use old sets from hhn and make it a million times better

I don't think they will remove it. If they do, they won't replace it with anything unless SERIOUS modifications are made to the structure it's on. OSHA would not approve it today.

I thought it would b cool if they could make the rooms "movable" meaning that each room has 2-3 different ways it could be set up so they could chang it for upcoming horror movies and for HHN.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned a new version of HP&tFJ. That's an awesome ride.

No place to put it and if there was, it wouldn't be ready for 2011.

Yeah maybe if they destroyed T2, the coke soak, and the the England area along with Mel's Diner then MAYBE you would have room. But that would be imposable anyway because of of the weight limit because of the parking lot below it.
