  • Tram Tour- Hollywood

Went today.. great time as usual.. I've noticed that pretty much all summer, the tram has skipped the parting of the waters and the entire Little Europe area. Anyone know what the deal is? Today they also skipped the Mummys Tunnel(maybe getting ready for Horror Nights?)....

Could be broken, could be active filming. Don't know.

Glad you had fun! I miss Universal, need another visit soon.

I'm "bumping" this thread... we went to USH today (what a great day to go). The tram is still not doing the parting of the waters or little Europe.... over the summer, I thought maybe they closed those areas off to save time, as it would be really busy and the trams would be backed up at spots like King Kong and Tokyo Drift. But today didn't seem that busy. Anybody know the official scoop?

There could have been set dressing and/or filming in those areas. When I go during the week to cover USH for each week's In The Parks I've always gone through the Red Sea and Little Europe. We may never know...

I'm pretty sure the Mummy Tunnel is getting the Grinchmas overlay installed so thats why thats closed (which is good with me....that by far is the weakest part of the Tram)
          Happy Halloween!!!

The Mummy tunnel closure comment was from September. Grinchmas doesn't start for another couple of weeks so the transformation to Mt. Crumpit won't start for another week.

I thought they cut the parting of the Red Sea in order to feature the model of the ship from Jackson's "King Kong."

TramDriverBill over at the StudioTour.com forums says they bypass the Red Sea on weekends to save time and so Uni doesn't have to use as many union tram drivers. With record attendance from Kong and soon the Transformers, Universal should not being going the cheap and easy route!

Whatever happened to the actors they had in the Western area staging gunfights? I remember that from my first trip there around 4 years ago, but haven't seen it show up on the tour since.

^As far as I know, that was only done during the period when most of the backlot was being reconstructed due to the fire. It really shorted the tour, so they added various mini-"shows" along the route to make up for the lack of other things you'd normally see. Now that things are back to normal, I generally wouldn't expect them to return unless there's a special circumstance.
Does anyone even bother with signatures anymore?

That makes sense. Although with WWHP coming, I'm hoping the tram tour gets a HP themed live show that the tram goes through, like the aforementioned wild west one, or the Bates hotel one.
