  • Universal Hollywood on July 4th

Does anyone have any experience with Universal Studios Hollywood on July 4th as far as the crowds go? I could go July 5th, but I have Craig Fergouson tickets for July 5th, so the only other day I could go to Universal would be July 4th....anybody have any thoughts on trying to get to see both the tv show taping and universal? I've never been to USH.

They are only open until 9pm that day so not sure if that includes fireworks or not.

But with any park, it will be BUSY.

What is busy for this park? Like the Mummy and studio tour lines an hour long? or worse?

Fireworks?? They do fireworks in USH?? You sure about that?? The only fireworks I know they do are in Waterworld.

Mummy & Jurassic Park have a single rider line (they will probably use them on a holiday). Studio Tour closes maybe between 4-6pmish?? Wait time can probably be +45 minutes. You can probably do T2:3D & Shrek 4D at the end of the day. Try to do the lower lot first and then spend the rest of the day on the upper lot. Usually when Hollywood Animal Actors ends, Fear Factor LIVE is seating and/or vice versa. Back to the Future can get crowded on a busy day. Check out the offical website and decide what you need to see and what you could skip. If I could, I would give you a couple of prioity passes I have. In fact, I should just give them to random people in the park since I've been there many times.

Personally, I eat a big breakfast and big dinner outside the park to get in more rides. Maybe have dinner in Citywalk...

Honestly, I never go to theme parks on a holiday.

So do you think it is worth going to USH on July 4th to catch a tv taping? My brother really wants to do both......and since I don't think I can get Leno tickets, Craig Fergeson is the best I can come up with so far.

I doubt any shows will be taping on July 4th other than late-night talk shows. You have to get Leno tickets pretty far in advance, and for a holiday it's probably worse.

Personally, I went to enough TV show tapings last summer to last me a while. It gets cold and dull after a while.

I am from NJ and haven't seen that much stuff out there yet, so I want to do as much as possible.

July 4th is actually slower. That's better than the days around it as far as crowds go.

I went on Memorial Day last year and it was not too bad.

I will say this, I have the regular 'free' AP from USH and we just got a thing in the mail allowing us to get in up to 4 people on any blackout day this summer. I am betting that a lot of people will use it for the 4th.

ekester, do you have experience on 4th of July at USH? would it be better than July 5th?

You may want to suck it up and spring for a front of the line pass. I dislike them on principal, but you'll have a more relaxing day, especially on a holiday.

                        Cheers.

Yes, the 4th is pretty much always lighter than the 5th since so many people have other plans for the holiday.
