Indeed, the lighting is all messed up. But hey, it's the first POV, so let's enjoy it!

Is that an AA dragon I spy around the 1:28 mark?

According to Orlando Attractions Magazine, the ride has both a simulator film and animatronics.

          So, yes!

Too hard to tell if the animatronics are impressive or not.

As I said in the other thread, this really does seem like an improved version of Spider-Man. That's really not much of a criticism, mind you, but I don't think this ride deserves the term "F-ticket" that some have tried to hype it as.

              EDIT:

As others have said, you're really not missing much if you don't watch it. You can barely hear the audio, the video is almost invisible at time, and whatever animatronics/sets you may see appear as flashes of light and little else.

I like to think of that as a POV if you suffered from severe glaucoma, tunnel vision, and were prone to brief spells of blacking out.

Well, it's all we have at the moment.

The audio kind of gives it away at times. Try listening with headphones (like I did).

You say that like it's a bad thing. It looks great to me. I honestly don't know what else people were expecting with this, where else they could possibly expand the technology to. Short of having actors do all this each ride cycle for you, which, in addition to having severe limitations on what can be done, is just downright awkward, this is about as close to real life as it gets. The only thing they left out is 3D, which has severe limitations of its own.
Forget 'Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln,' Samantha Brown is Disney's most sophisticated animatronic.

what i meant is that the ride does not live up ( IN MY OPINION!) to all the hype. 2 years without concept art and barely any information and its like spiderman but with a couple improvements.
So in other words......it's like the 7 Time Golden Ticket Award Winner for Best Dark Ride in the World with a couple of improvements? Sounds good to me!!!

hrm... looks like soarin'+dinosaur in Harry Potter world.

Of course in a dark ride like this its very hard to film... but I was kind of hoping for more. The whole 'soarin' aspect I was hoping they wouldn't rely on so much.

Folks, please do not derail this thread with personal attacks. Presenting facts and logical support for your opinions is a welcome part of any discussion; using ad hominem attacks to belittle others for disagreeing is not. Let's please keep this thread on track and discuss the topic at hand: our opinions about this IOA attraction, not our opinions about people who have different tastes than us. Besides, posts like those tend to magically disappear, anyway.

                            Thanks!

It looks like they use the "Sorin'" aspect mainly in the
                              Spoiler
primary dragon fight and the Quiddich match
. If they used it LESS than two times, I might say that they hardly used the KUKA arm to their full extent. The line to the ride is fantastic. It's like a mini-attraction unto itself! It sets up the main plot points:

                              Spoiler
                              1. You're a muggle invited to Hogwarts by Dumbledore and you're to go to a lecture
                              2. Harry, Ron & Hermione want to help you escape the lecture and go to a Quiddich match
                              3. A Dragon and Voldemort are also on the loose

And the whole ride seems like a basic storyline, too, tying everything together:

                              Spoiler
You get on flying benches (due to Hermione's Floo Powder) and you fly to a Quiddich game (AND PASS HAGRID! EPIC WIN!!) when SOMETHING GOES HORRIBLY WRONG and a Dragon knocks you off course (Plot Point #2), forcing you to go through several places from the books such as the Forbidden Forest, the Ballask chamber, and... I couldn't tell, did they get to the Chamber of Secrets? Anyway, then you FINALLY get to the game and (just when you think that Malfoy was going to be the nastiest thing at the game) DEMENTORS show up, of course sent by Voldemort (Plot Point #3). Harry saves the day with the help of his friends (Ron, Hermione, and YOU!) and a party is waiting for you in the Great Hall.

Also, isn't it clever that they use the "Room of Requirement" for the loading platform? Supposedly, in the books it can turn into any sort of room you want (provided it doesn't break any of the exceptions), so I guess park guests REALLY want to get on this ride because the room is a loading platform, as it appears here!
