If anyone goes on it, tell me how it is!

Wow. Guys, hate to say it, but this blows Toy Story Mania out of the water. There's no doubt who won "the battle of the rides".

Toy Story Mania might be a cute, small 3-D interactive ride; The Simpsons Ride is what a great attraction should be: an experience. Attention new Imagineers: pay close attention to Universal Creative, they've been doing what your superiors haven't in a decade...

I'm going to USH on May 31st so hopefully it'll live up to the hype. I'm really looking forward to it.

Agreed. But I'm probbaly going to go on TSM b4 I go on The Simpsons Ride. Does anyone know if its going to be heavily themed on The Simpsons? Is it 'kid' friendly?

Re: Simpson Ride Soft Opens at Universal Orlando!

^From what I've seen and heard, it is possibly the most boundary-pushing ride ever. There are several references to beer, and the pre-show AND ride features Barney drunk, and Homer pursuing bottles of Duff. The Itchy and Scratchy safety video is gory, violent and mirrors what's seen on the show. Sideshow Bob is very explicit on his death threats, the list is endless! Rumor has it that in the "midway", Selma is seen taking the various pills found around the park, blends them, then proceeds to drink out of it. I mean, WOW! While there are no curse words, this is by far the raunchiest theme park ride I've ever seen. Also the most hilarious and irreverent.

What helps it is that the queue line video is 35-minutes long (!) and audible (!!), with the best past attraction tribute I've ever seen. There is always something to entertain you, and that is what currently separates Universal from Disney. TSM has nothing but an interactive Mr. Potato Head that you cross by for maybe ten minutes out of a two-hour queue, and makes zero attempt to successfully tell the "story". Dear Imagineers, a story doesn't count when you have to read the press release to know it. Thanks! Just queue, and more queue.

Disney used to do it the Universal way, but now? Forget it. It's all about the ride, and nevermind the queue. At Universal, there are ALWAYS monitors or something inside the queue that tells you the story and adds serious ambiance and excitement. A truly great attraction takes you on an experience, from the queue's entrance to your exit. NOT when you board your ride vehicle...

That may be true, but its really far too early to say this since no one has seen TSM yet. You're only going off speculation. Lets wait until TSM actually opens before we make the comparisons.

I will say this, from seeing the videos and pictures so far I'm very impressed. I'll be down there Tuesday and hope to ride then, we'll see how it is in person.

This ride looks like Universal's best effort ever when it comes to theming (the studios part at least). The ride looked so cool, plus the fact that they didn't child-friendly the Itchy and Scratchy segment. Thumbs Up Universal!

I love this Simpson's vs Toy Story debate. It is like watching a REALLY good boxing match, and we haven't even hit the bell for Round 1!

I think Toy Story Midway Mania has a real competitor when it comes to new highly themed rides now...

Of course it does. The only way TSM will beat, uh, TSR (weird, ain't it?) is if Disney puts some thought into the queue, and the ride works exactly like it's supposed to. Currently, over at DCA at least, all I see is a concrete jungle with a inconveniently-placed Potato Head AA and some pretty Victorian buildings. Yawn. Meanwhile, (and I'll say this again) The Simpsons Ride has a 30-minute queue video along with two pre-shows, all the while there's stuff surrounding you with the sole intention of making you laugh and entertaining you. That's going above and beyond. Yes, no one really has seen Toy Story Mania, but I've seen its queue, and it ain't impressive...
