  • Hey, Let's give Al some rep!!

Hey, Have you seen Al's rep on MiceChat?!

It's only one dark square!! (mostly because he only gets "credit" for his posts).

If anyone deserves "rep" at MiceChat then he does! So the next time you're here, go to one of Al's posts, click on the "scale" icon ()and give it to him!!

Edit: He's got ten squares now.. but hey, he should have more than Dusty, right?! just joking, Dusty!

Me too. But only sort of. Kind of a Ha ha ha - don't beg at the table thing.

You know, Al never posts on MiceChat except to post the article discussions. Too bad really. still deserves unmoddly amounts of rep though. As if Al needs rep for us to know he's a trustable source.

                    Yay!

                    Thank you, everyone!

Al has a "full" set of rep now. (5 dull green squares, 6 bright green squares).

And still only 33 posts. :-)

I suspect Al could care less about rep.

'Rep' isn't the only thing in life. Now If I can drag him out of his little hidey-hole and start posting again, that would be an accomplishment...

Long long ago, in an unmoderated Usenet Newsgroup far far away, Al wasn't afraid to say what he thought about many and sundry things in the world, Disney related or not - good, bad, or indifferent. And life was good.

Then he got a few detractors who tried to bust his chops every time he said anything even the least bit controversial  (or they'd just go after him in an Ad Hominem frontal assault for discussing the weather ) and it got so bad he gave up on the whole format of open discussion. Just stuck with that little bitty D.I.G. website on AOL as main outgoing communications.

Flash forward to 2005: Now he has his own sandbox in a controlled format, there is an impartial moderation system in place to control the 'venom level' of the participants - and I'm sure they'd even moderate The Boss if push came to shove and he went over the line - and yet Al won't say "Boo!" here. What's wrong with this picture?

Nothing wrong with rep - but I'd much rather see him get out in the sunshine more than just on Sunday mornings and the occasional column. I tried to get through, but it's not happening, I don't know what buttons to push - I'm open to suggestions.

Maybe we need a grass roots petition started? "Draft Al to Start Participating in Discussions Again in 2005" (Stranger things have happened...)

Do you remember when he went over that kid's house for trolling the group? I thought that was pretty funny.

Usenet is a wasteland and absolutely nothing good ever came from it.

Correction...Actually, *much* of Usenet nowadays is a wasteland IMHO. There still
are pockets in sci.* that are worthwhile. Anyway, I digress...

I vaguely remember that troll insident. I thought it was pretty funny. :-)

And Bruce, I think you're right that it is time that Al starts posting that like he used to....I haven't seen him comment too much (actually not at all), even on his articles like Kevin always does.

I know the other person in that trolling incident (who shall remain un-named to protect the at-the-time totally clueless) and quite frankly he needed someone to go give him a rather severe wake-up call to BEHAVE. And it did have a noticeable effect.

Heck, I had to go serve up a personal "Wake Up And Smell The Roses" call at someone's front door like that myself a long time ago - several years before Al's incident. It worked in the micro (the person in question left the people involved in the ummm... "friendly visitation" alone from there forward) but he still went out and got himself into some real serious trouble... Does the name Kevin Mitnick ring any bells? Yeah, THAT Kevin Mitnick. I think he's finally growing up...

Hey, Al: I think it's safe to come out and play now... K? K.
