  • Headed for Avenue Q 9/9/05

I am headed to Las Vegas next weekend to see the final show of Kelly Clarkson's tour with my sisters and a bunch of my sister's friends. With Avenue Q officially premiering at the Wynn Resort this weekend, I figured I would try to get a ticket for next Friday night. Much more fun to see a Broadway show than to gamble the $100 away at the slot machines.

I booked the ticket with the Wynn Resort directly. I negotiated my way to Row E (from Row O). SInce I purchased my ticket from the Resort directly, I did not have to pay a service fee, which I would have had to do if I went through Ticketmaster.

One of the things I am looking most forward to is being able to see two of the original cast members, John Tartaglia (Princeton & Rod) and Rick Lyon (Trekkie Monster). Lyon is the one who designed all of the puppets.

I hope to do a report on the show, as well as a photo update on the new Wynn Resort.

    Prices?

    is every seat $100?

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

My ticket was actually $99. They have orchestra seat for $99 and mezzanine seats for $88. The reservation person told me that the last row of the mezzanine is only 72 feet from the front of the stage.

Hey Mamabot - you are going to LOVE it! I saw the show last saturday - it's first official show for the public. It was amazing! I laughed SO hard.

Did they specifically tell you John Tartaglia and Rick Lyons would be performing? There are 2 casts for the show, and we were disappointed that we did not see John and Rick. However, the cast we saw was truly phenominal in every way.

My sister saw the final dress rehearsal with John and Rick, but she was disappointed with their Christmas Eve and Gary Coleman - but they were my favorite characters in the cast we saw.

I hope you have a BLAST! It will be very cool to sit that close - we were in row N and that was fabulous. The theatre was beautiful, too.

The weather's supposed to cooling down too. We may not even make it to 100!!

                Have a blast!

Yeah, and I learned that Barry Manilow is playing while I am there, which would have been fun to see, not that I am a big fan of his, but to see my adopted brother, Chris, playing in the band. I am going to try to see if I can get over there if there is a rehearsal. It's a musical tour of Vegas baby!

Darn you!! I don't have the money yet (planning on seeing it by the end of the year), but I cannot WAIT to see it.

I really, really hope whatever show I see has John and Rick in it...

I tried calling the Wynn to see if they knew if John & Rick would be performing on Friday. They said they do not have a cast schedule available. Oh well. It was worth the toll free call. I will be happy to see it no matter what.

DivaPrincess, did you see the early or late show?

Hey, mamabot, double check your Kelly Clarkson tickets. I just heard she cancelled tonight's LA show and postponed it to next week. She has bronchitis or something icky!
