  • ROCKY back for a 6th round

    Oct. 15, 2005
'Rocky' back for a sixth round By Borys Kit

Sylvester Stallone is signing on to reprise his role as boxer Rocky Balboa, and will direct the sixth installment of the long-running film series, titled simply "Rocky Balboa," from his own script.

The film will be co-produced and co-financed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Columbia Pictures and Revolution Studios and will be distributed by Columbia Pictures.

Stallone has been trying to make a sixth movie for years and has spent time reworking a script. The latest version, which sources said is similar to tone and grit to the first two movies, persuaded the studios to negotiate a deal.

"In many ways, the screenplay really took me back to the original 'Rocky,' " Revolution Studios founder Joe Roth said in a statement. "As a past champion, Rocky Balboa is once again a regular guy who has to find himself and deal with real life. This film brings Rocky's story full circle."

You've seen him take on Apollo Creed and Russia... but now Rocky faces his toughest opponent yet... midlife crisis. I wonder if they are going to get Arnie to play his opponent in the ring.
        Growing older is manditory
        Growing up is however, optional

They don't even bother naming it Rocky VI since Rocky V was so hated...do we really need another Rocky movie?

We don't but apparently he does. And then this happened:
Stallone back in combat for fourth 'Rambo'
By Tatiana Siegel The Hollywood Reporter
The franchise that drew "First Blood" is back with a fourth installment.

Millennium Films in conjunction with Emmett/Furla Films and Equity Pictures are partnering on a $50 million "Rambo IV." Sylvester Stallone is attached to star.

The story centers on former Vietnam vet John Rambo, who is living a reclusive life back home in the U.S. But when a girl goes missing, he is forced to abandon his quiet lifestyle and take justice into his own hands.

No director is attached, and the screenplay is in the early stages.

              Ventimiglia is Rocky Balboa's Son

              Source: The Hollywood Reporter
              November 23, 2005

Milo Ventimiglia has signed on to play Sylvester Stallone's adult son in Rocky Balboa, which is being co-produced and co-financed by MGM, Columbia Pictures and Revolution Studios.

In the sixth installment about the mythic Philadelphia boxer, Rocky has long since retired but is drawn back to the ring one last time. He is challenged by a powerful new champion, by personal tragedy and ultimately by himself.

Rocky's son, Rocky Balboa Jr., was first introduced into the franchise in Rocky II, when his birth was a pivotal moment in the film. The role most recently was filled by Stallone's real-life son, Sage Stallone, in Rocky V.

Reminds me of the movie "Airplane 2" where the poster behind Sunny Bono. And I think it says Rocky 68, and its a picture of an old man with his gloves on the ground.

Just in case you don't know about Rocky XIII:

                    Theme from Rocky XIII

Fat and weak, what a disgrace.
Guess the champ got too lazy.
Ain't gonna fly now, he's just takin' up space.
Sold his gloves, threw his eggs down the drain.
But he's no bum, he works down the street.
                    He bought the neighborhood deli.
Back on his feet, now he's choppin' up meat.
Come inside, maybe you'll hear him say:

Try the rye or the kaiser,
                    They're on special tonight.
If you want, you can have an appetizer.
You might like our salami, and the liver's all right.
And they'd really go well with the rye,
                    Or the kaiser.

Never eats while on the job.
He heard it's good to stay hungry.
But he makes a pretty mean shish kabob.
Have a taste, they were made fresh today.

Try the rye or the kaiser or the wheat or the white.
Maybe I can suggest an appetizer.
Stay away from the tuna, it smells funny tonight.
But you just can't go wrong with the rye,
                    Or the kaiser.

So today, his deli comes first.
Still he dreams of his past days of glory.
Goes in the back and beats up on the liverwurst,
All the while you can still hear him say:

It's the rye or the kaiser, it's the thrill of one bite.
Let me please be your catering advisor.
If you want substitutions, I won't put up a fight.
You can have your roast beef on the rye,
                    Or the kaiser.
                    The rye or the kaiser,
                    The rye or the kaiser,
                    The rye or the kaiser...
